ls3360 Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 especially for the women cause men died earlier than they do. Unless you're talking "past 55 or 60yo", the difference is negligible.
Porn_Guy Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Unless you're talking "past 55 or 60yo", the difference is negligible. talk to any woman in her late 30s and 40s and ask her how hard its to find a non-married decent guy...
Storyrider Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Yeah he did. My mistake. He's out there too IMO. Um...a fictional character in a movie said it.
orangehose Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 You've put together a very interesting list there (and one that's potentially useful)... Hmmm, the eye contact thing may be worth working on. I often find it difficult to make eye contact with male strangers... I guess I just don't swivel my head around with that kind of intent. Anyway, I have to add a couple of other possibilities: A) You move in social circles that don't really allow for much "meeting men". In college I had a tight circle of female friends, and none of them had networks of opposite sex friends or were the type to go to parties. Difficult to believe, but there are a fair number of us "quiet studious types" out there. B) You have difficulty making opposite sex friends. I have great friends of the same sex, but have always had difficulty making a conversational connection with the opposite sex... not sure why. C) You belong to an ethnicity that is assumed to only want to date amongst themselves. So guys assume you wouldn't be interested anyway. D) You are involved in a profession or type of school that rarely allows you to see the light of day. Just thought I'd list these, since they all apply to me :-/ This is unrelated to the list, but I do have to take issue with the idea that there's something fundamentally 'malfunctioning' in a single woman in her late (or mid) twenties who can't get dates. I know quite a few single women in this position, and there aren't really any red flags about them. Guys seem to have this impression that any young single woman just needs to snap her fingers to conjure a coterie of delectable dates. It just ain't so.
Mollyanna Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 D) You are involved in a profession or type of school that rarely allows you to see the light of day. I will totally agree with that one. I travel all across the country for my job, work very long hours, AND work out of my home. I know very few people in the community I live in. I also want to add another option to the list - hopefully someone can better phrase it than I can right now at 4:20 in the morning during my insomnia attack - dating people under or over your "status" level
Porn_Guy Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 dating people under or over your "status" level dating in or out of your league...
Mollyanna Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 over or under your league. but yes, that is the idea I was getting at. Thank You. For example, I don't think I have ever dated anyone who was as successful as I am, both personally or professionally. (dating under my league) I tend to only date good looking men, most of them probably considered better looking than I am. They are also very outgoing and a lot more "popular" (dating over my league) Now that I think of it, both probably have to do with my low self-esteem issues. Wow, I think I just counseled myself.

Wow, I think I just counseled myself. that'll be $90 please
Mollyanna Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 no no no, i didn't say they weren't smart. let's just say they chose other paths in life, weren't as ambitious, spent too much time partying, etc...
TYASAFAHICSI Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I am single, and NOT ONE of these applies to me... or any of my amazing single friends. Yeah, sure! I am with Porno Guy here on this one. THe older the more you will need to settle. As for my red flags.... Not independent enoughToo independentToo much discussion about herselfIndicating that a relationship MUST come from a dateToo quick to jump into a sexual relationshipLiving too far awayLack of intelligence (or enough of a difference between the two)Materialistic
