Davinci Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I believe this is more of a vent than anything else but thoughts and opinions would be great! I started a relationship with a great girl roughly 6 months ago. Subsequently however, we have moved broadly 2 hours away from one another and I have to admit it is hard and we both appreciate this difficulty. I arranged a New Years meeting with a friend of mine in New York and soon enough she had arranged a likewise trip to New York with her friends. Upon arrival in New York however her mobile doesn't send signals only receives them and she has to rely upon her friends' mobile. So I can send her texts on how mush I miss her but she doesn't respond with likewise messages because she is using a friends mobile. Is it natural to say that the number of texts that I send her will reduce if we cannot be intimate in these messages especially if she will not use her friends mobile frequently? Also, having had this LDR for so long (Sorry for all those who have had it longer and my hat goes off to you but I am finding this the most difficult thing I have ever done!) I thought that when we were in the same country and even the same city we would be together. However, this has proved far from the truth. I find this frustrating and I have communicated this to her. She has said that she feels the same and that in the future we can never go on holidays without one another. However, I am still finding it hard and I think I love this girl and it feels like I'm going crazy. Any advice before I go completely insane? I don’t like feeling so exposed.
norajane Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Uh, what's with the texting when you are both in NYC? Why not meet in person? Or, hello, there are telephones everywhere - she could call you from someone's house, or use her friend's phone to call you. I don't get it. Why aren't you together when you are in the same city? If you live two hours apart, how hard can it be to drive to meet each other each weekend? Or maybe meet in the middle somewhere? You're not so far apart that you have to act like you're on different continents! If you're going to do the LDR thing, you have to make it work. Are you two really trying?
FallenTree Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 LDRs require effort from both... My previous LDRs were maintained by 2-3 visits per month and many phone calls. I can't imagine just texting. Good luck
