Author goodfriendeva Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 lol damnit lots of errors.. oh well i hope you guys can understand it:p
johan Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I think a good way to interpret dreams is to forget the imagery. Pretty much anything can happen in a dream the majority of which is nonsense. But the one thing that happens in dreams that is completely real is the emotions you're having (while dreaming) in response to that imagery. If you focus on those emotions, you can generally identify something in your life that is not getting resolved. So if you felt fear or anger, the "flavor" of that fear or anger is probably showing up in your day to day life. And you can link the dream to that. For me, dreams make a lot of sense that way. You have to think hard about one like you described with the shotgun. On the surface that is terrifying and disturbing. But during the dream you may have felt some other way. It takes a bit of concentration to remember what you were feeling in the dream.

I'm not a dream interpreter, but I had a dream interpreter interpret some dreams for me in the past. (That almost sounds like I'm saying, "I'm not a doctor but I play one on TV"...) Don't know if this'll help any, but I have had a recurring dream since I was a teenager and it reminds me a little bit of yours, at least in certain themes. It would involve a man I was involved with at the time (although once or twice it's been someone from my past) and some other woman (often a good friend or even my sister!) He'd be screwing around with them, and flaunting this fact in front of my face somehow, either directly or by leaving hints so I'd inadvertantly walk in on them together. I'd have an intense fear of what I'd find and what I'd see, yet I'd always go looking. And when I'd arrive, I'd always go after the girl first, never the guy. I have superhuman abilities to lift buildings and cars in the dreams, yet when I'd try to harm the people who've torn my heart out, I could do them no physical harm - like they were immune to me. Long story short, this perplexed me for years so I sought out the meaning and this is what I was told. That dreams of infidelity almost always stem from fear of abandonment and insecurity (over the relationship). The fact that I couldn't hurt them stemmed from my own fear that I felt I had no power to change the situation and my own feelings of low self worth. I'd go after the female first due to this and my fear of not being worthy of love from my partner. Add to this the fact that often it was a man cheating with someone else whom I trusted a great deal, such as a good friend or family member - more fear of abandonment and betrayal by those whom I trust the most. Basically, this all had to do with the fact that I never felt comfortable fully trusting anyone in real life, because I feared eventually everyone I cared for would hurt me or leave. These were hard pills to swallow, but it did make me think, and some (not all) of it made sense. That's just what I was told about the themes. When all else fails, google it
