We're both in our mid/late 20's. We met online and started talking over the phone about a month ago. It was sporadic at first but got pretty consistent and "deep" about 2 weeks ago. We talked for 2-3 hours at a stretch several times so that was fun! But for the last week or so, the conversation has died down and we only exchange a few short txt msgs every day. It seems like we've run out of things to talk about for now :(

Well we're meeting up for the first time next week. I'm flying to her city. I've arranged to spend the night at a friend's place coz i'm feeling very awkward about this. If one of us isn't comfortable, at least I have an escape....I guess. Does anyone have ideas on what kinda stuff to do on our first date? What should I be prepared for and what signs should I watch out for? Should I ask her to come meet me at the airport, or rent a car, or have my friend pick me up (since I'll probably crash at his place at night), or just get a taxi to her place?? If anyone's been through one of these first meetings and has lessons/best practices to share, that'll be very helpful.

Thanks!!

With my limited dating experience, this is what i can recommand to you.

1) Be yourself,

2) be comfortable, don't think its a end all be all date.

3) treat her like an annoying little sister and make fun of her and just have fun

4) It doesn;t matter what you do, just have a good time (don't try to impress her)

5) Be a gentleman, open doors etc

6) Be charming and funny, make her feel like shes having fun

7) most importantly, So what if you never see her again or just be friends. If you go into it with a mind set of "I'm going to blow this chance" you will.

I met a guy I talked to online at a museum during the day. We walked around the place, talked to each other, looked at the exhibits and then went to lunch. It was a good place to meet because it was in public. We were able to talk to each other and then if we didn't have anything to say, we could examine the exhibits. After a while, he took my hand when we were walking around. It was nice.

Good luck and have fun!

Um, actually...

Things went so good that we ended up much later at the hotel room he had gotten.

It didn't work out between us. The distance thing was just too hard to deal with and I learned to limit my search to men much closer to home.

But, all in all, it was a wonderful, romantic time.
