bonehead Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 As you head out to your holiday gatherings, or host them whatever the case may be I would like you all to keep some things in mind. Those of us that work in public safety dont have the option of closing the office for the day. As much as we would love to spend the day with our families we know that there may be others that need us more. We dont do this for the praise, glory, the rush, or anything else that falls into the sterotype people hold. We do it out of a sense of service. Its our way of giving back. But YOU can give US a gift. Since we cant be with our families, please be extra safe so we dont have to take you away from yours.

Curmudgeon Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 And for us state mental health system managers, if you do jump, thank you for the job security. Your survivors will keep us busy and our people employed. On a serious note, Merry Christmas everyone, even you, Alpha!
kymberann Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 And for us state mental health system managers, if you do jump, thank you for the job security. Your survivors will keep us busy and our people employed. LOL CUrmudgeon Yep there is something to be said for job security!
Curmudgeon Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Just for another three years. Then it's retirement. Actually, I work the political and legislative side of the issues now so I usually have to put out political forest fires related to mental health issues and testify about them before the Legislature. Haven't done the hands-on counseling in 30+ years except as involves personnel issues.
kymberann Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Well I do the hands on counseling, mainly mental illness and substance abuse, dual Dx. It is amazing though how it all influences one another. I could specifically say I work with substance abuse but there are so many variables that come into play with someone's mental health that as a hands on worker, pt and I have to look at EVERYTHING! I love it though as it is their own process! Best
alphamale Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 On a serious note, Merry Christmas everyone, even you, Alpha! thanx CURMUDGEON: cur·mudg·eon (kər-mŭj'ən) n. An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions.
Curmudgeon Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 as a crusty, irascible, cantankerous old person full of stubborn ideas. I gave up ill-tempered and resentment when I divorced the ex. It works for me and I've earned it!
BenThereDunThat Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Merry, merry everyone!
