MY fiance and i are really wanting to go from the east coast to the west coast to get married. our families are okay with this and we aer totally excited but how does this work? what i mean is...just me and him going, no family, do you think it means as much or means more cause we are focused on JUST us and not some obnoxious ceremony that never goes right?

also...we aer having a party/reception when we get back from our wedding...also doing this to save some money...

anyone ever went away to get married just you and your fiance???

WOW!

i swore if i ever got married again it would be about me and her

and how we wanted

i have thought about saying vows while standing in crystal blue topic waters

etc.

if i ever get married again i want to do it in a way that is about us

not some church and suit and boring speeches and expebsive food

lol, we call it "eloping" where I'm from

joking aside, yes, DH and I eloped in Tennessee. My family is/was in Texas, his in Alabama, and we married in Tennessee. His mom was the only one present, which was cool. Later that night we drove down into Birmingham, where his little sister took us to a "Cheers" type bar, then to dinner. I wish we would have planned ahead and done a celebratory reception afterwards, though ...

frankly, I think this works best when you don't want the fuss of organizing a wedding. I know you can do it low-key, but still, the idea of having to "perform" before a bunch of people rattles me – I'd much rather do like you're doing, with a nice celebration for everyone after me and my guy exchanged vows.

congrats on your upcoming marriage! When's the big day?

so when's the big day?
