noturtypicalwife Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 heres a ? Do some websites like for instance ASKJOLENE automatically get your location or areas surrounding you or do you have to plug in the location?
Art_Critic Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 It is called geolocation marketing .. the webpage pokes your computer and finds out your ip address and then your geolocation then it displays an ad that matches Google geolocation
Author noturtypicalwife Posted December 18, 2006 Author Posted December 18, 2006 but google did say it guesses, so accuracy would not be guarunteed. the place it located was close, have you seen this website? y would a married man go there? and honestly I am not sure if it recognizes the computer and so that is why it brings up the same result. It also has a scroll bar and you click on the specific type of search, his was one on one sex:confused:
Art_Critic Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 It does depend on the ip address to how accurate geolocation can be.. I have found it to be accurate most times to within 15-20 miles Sometimes within 5 miles.. Certain ISP's have their geolocation marked at the closest point of demarcation and is only accurate to a city
Art_Critic Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 ASKJOLENE does publish sites that use geolocation marketing.. the adult industry is one that does use it.. If you take your same computer to a different city or state it will display different ads. It seems like you are trying to believe that someone did something on your computer based on this...You are making a false assumption based on the fact that geolocation marketing is used on ASKJOLENE Although ASKJOLENE is a adult porn gateway.. so based on the browser history ( if that is where you learned about ASKJOLENE) it would mean that he was looking at porn
JamesM Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Before you jump to the conclusion that he looks at ALOT of porn, he could be just curious and clicked on one or more links. If he simply went to a website of porn, then this will be plugged into the ASKJOLENE and it will send related ads. This happened at our house awhile back. My wife had gone to a website that had links to porn on it. She did click a couple and we had some porn ads. Based on the browser history, this was the only thing that could have caused it. So, the best solution is ask.
