pureinheart Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Ok when did you all start dating? Reason that I ask is that kids are starting to date as young as in 1st grade so I was wondering if this was always like this or is that something new? There was this girl that was on her third bf and she was in 3rd grade. I couldn't believe it and she is having trouble already with him NOT LISTENING! First Grade!!!!!!!!!!!!! For Gods sake! My first real date was 36 yrs old....when I grew up nobody went on dates, we just got together and hung out....
the_alchemyst Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Hmm . . . I think I'll say that I was 17 when I started dating. Wait, no--I don't think I ever dated. I went out on my first date with my exbf about 3 years ago, and that was the date that we became "boyfriend and girlfriend." He had liked me since 10th grade, and I started growing feelings for him in my late 11th grade of HS, and then . . . we just went out that one day almost 3 years ago, while I was in 12th grade (17), and he working, since he dropped out (18). And erm, that's how it started, I guess. I never really dated, then . . .
Storyrider Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 When I was in the 7th grade an 8th grade boy asked me out to two concerts within two weeks of each other. I didn't really like him, but I was so inexperienced I didn't know how to say no. I was counting on my parents to say I was too young. Unfortunately, his parents and my parents were friends, so they said yes. The first concert was Pat Benatar. The second was Tom Petty, not quite as bad. Until he put his hand on my knee!! Later on I remember my first kiss was with a boy at a Jewish Youth Convention. Apparently, this was the case for a lot of kids in the youth group. They had a song about it: (to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree") Oh USY oh USY, for you we live, for you we die (repeat) You gave us spirit And lots of luck You even taught us How to...(big pause)...fool around Oh USY oh USY, for you we live, for you we die.
VandGsMom Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 ROFL@^ Story.... I always wanted to be a Jew growing up. Gillis Schwartz always seemed to have it better... Umm, in the first grade I threatened Christopher Ford that I would punch him if he didn't sit behind the puppet theatre curtain with me at Friday movie time and hold my hand. And my ex husband said I was a control freak.... As for dates, my mom made me wait until 16, and I was married before my 18th birthday, so.... and I am CERTAINLY not catching up on the dating now.... oh well.
Storyrider Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Umm, in the first grade I threatened Christopher Ford that I would punch him if he didn't sit behind the puppet theatre curtain with me at Friday movie time and hold my hand. And my ex husband said I was a control freak..... Wow, V&GsM, who knew all that passion was going on behind the puppet theater!? Way to take charge! I don't know if you caught my thread about my 8 year old getting a secret pal? It turned out to be a boy who punched her in Kindie and gave her a bloody nose. She had to write him poems, etc. this week. Well, tonight, she said she thinks maybe God arranged for Kevin to punch her in the nose two years ago so that they could "connect" and become friends now, and she wants to invite him to her birthday party!!! I hope this isn't the beginning of a fascination with bad boys!
Pyro Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 Come to think of it I did hang around guys when I was 1st grade. I used to run with one of them when we had to run the mile in gym. That was fun but we weren't like doing anything, just hanging out. This one girl use to share her crayons with me when we had a project back in first grade. I wonder if I can find her number......

Trialbyfire Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I started real dating at 12, although I did have play b/f's at age 10 and 11. My play b/f at 11 was my brother's best friend. To this day, my brother still doesn't know I play dated his cute best friend.
VandGsMom Posted December 18, 2006 Posted December 18, 2006 I hope this isn't the beginning of a fascination with bad boys! Tell her right now: NO BOYS ON MOTORCYCLES!
