bonehead Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Ok, a few of you know about my little mishap over the weekend. MW has ridden dirt bike for YEARS. Her oldest got into ATVs about a year ago, and her youngest just started riding this past summer. They have had the safety classes, are watched closely when riding. Know where they can and cant ride at the track. Her STBX has no problem with them riding. But her oldest sent MWs inlaws a picture of her and her sister geared up sitting on their machines. They hit the roof. MW got an email from her inlaws tonight reaming her a new one for her kids riding. Its so unsafe, Im a bad person for letting my kids ride and getting hers into riding. Now she is actually thinking that the kids wont ride until after the divorce is final. I know its not my place to say anything, but if their dad is ok with it why let his parents get to her like that? Good thing they didnt see the picture of my leg.....
oyster Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 probably parents are pissed at the coming divorce which affects negatively the MM?

GreenEyedLady Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I don't see what the big deal is...their dad doesn't care...quite personally I don't know why she cares what the inlaws say anyways...they won't be happy with anything she does, period...
Author bonehead Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 Even her STBX has said not to worry about it. But she is so upset right now.
GreenEyedLady Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 She should realize that this is probably the way it will be for awhile...
Author bonehead Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 really sucks because the kids love riding.
GreenEyedLady Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hell, she should let 'em ride...ain't no law against it...
bunset Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hell, she should let 'em ride...ain't no law against it... I'm 100% with GEL!!!! The in-laws have NO say... only parents.
yousaveme Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Hey BH Just comfort her and tell her everything will be okay. That people will always be have something to say. And as long as the father and she is okay with it. Then that is what matters. She didnt do anything wrong
herenow Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I'm sure things are very hard for everyone in this situation. If the kids riding make it more stressful for your MW then maybe it's best to wait. Don't wait for the in-laws, wait because it makes life easier on you for now. Maybe she doesn't want to be in the position of having someone say that she is doing dangerous things with her kids. Maybe not, but either way she is not ignoring the in-laws concerns.

herenow Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hey Bonehead, How's your leg? What did the MW decide to do about the in-laws?
Author bonehead Posted December 14, 2006 Author Posted December 14, 2006 Hey Bonehead, How's your leg? What did the MW decide to do about the in-laws? Legs healing well. She hasnt done anything but their dad has. He dropped off paperwork to me so if the kids need medical treatment I can get it for them without their parents. He knows how much they like to ride and how much of a release it is for them. Have his ok to take them riding without her. Not that I would do it, but maybe with her seeing that even he is behind her on this one will help a little bit.

People will always say its dangerous, and truthfully it is. But parents should have the last say.
yousaveme Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Thats cool. Take care of that leg Legs healing well. She hasnt done anything but their dad has.
