silentalways Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 hello, speaking of normal life - this is a priority for me right now however i have one transitional issue and i was wondering if anyone has done this successful and is interested would like to provide some advice thanks
Author VandGsMom Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 I only seem to transition from bad to worse... lol Last night was a HUGE pain in the arse trying to sleep with that tube. And the kids actually wanted to snuggle, I can't tell you how much I usually wish they would, but I couldn't let them. I CANNOT be bumped around. Geez. AND I broke a nail. lol
magichands Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Sorry to hear about the snuggling hang-ups. But remember that today's worse is tomorrow's bad. (Did I get that right??) Hope that helps. My eyes are getting so tired that lol looks like someone throwing their arms in the air. Is that celebration or frustration? Whatever it is, let's hope the tubes stay attached. You're an inspiration - you really are. I wish my sense of humour was that robust.
Author VandGsMom Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 lol <-- You know, I see what you mean... I think he is throwing his hands up in disgust.. as in "AAAHHHHhhhhh!, I can't do it!" And as far as a sense of humor goes, I can scientifically say that your sense of humor does not reside or depend on a handful of semi-vital organs, evidently. I have it's residence narrowed down to a lung, the heart, the brain, and right foot. Get some sleep, and thanks for the giggles.... I need 'em, Bless your heart.
magichands Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Did Alanis really *get* irony, or did she just confuse it with bad luck? That's what we always used to wonder anyway. I think Alanis sometimes went for double-or-nothing, and, well... you know. Get some sleep, and thanks for the giggles.... I need 'em, Bless your heart. Thanks to Storyrider, I now know you meant that meanly. I'm still looking for the irony... somewhere.
Pyro Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Riddler:No thanks what? I was just replying to the thread. Look at the title, weren't you asking if we wanted a dialysis?
amaysngrace Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Totally. Awesome. Attitude. When I hear of life-stories such as yours, VGM, I cannot help but be humbled. At Christmas time and every day through the year I seem to dwell on what is wrong in my life. And then, through the Grace of God, somebody like you comes along and puts things into perspective for me. Your life story is an amazing story. One of inspiration, strength, determination and love. Your attitude towards it all speaks volumes of the person that you are. Your story helps me to remember some things that I knew but had forgotten. To be thankful. To treat each day as a gift. To try to be a better person. I really cannot express to you how very deeply your life story has touched my heart. You have given me such a present and I need to say thank you. Thank you for sharing the story of your life. Christmas can come and go but I know I've already gotten my gift this year, it was given to me by you. Many thoughts and prayers to you and if I could trade places with you for a bit to take away some of your burden, I gladly would. God Bless Your Heart.
Author VandGsMom Posted December 12, 2006 Author Posted December 12, 2006 I was just replying to the thread. Look at the title, weren't you asking if we wanted a dialysis? Oh, snap... ( I always wanted to say that! I am sooo-unhip ) Are you sure? Cause between you and me, I think I can get it at wholesale....
Pyro Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Oh, snap... ( I always wanted to say that! I am sooo-unhip ) Are you sure? Cause between you and me, I think I can get it at wholesale.... Well, if you can get me a deal on one, then I'll have to reconsider my reply from earlier. I had a coupon but they wouldn't accept it.

You really give me more credit than I deserve. I splurged on a gold engraved bookmark today that said "Where there is Love, there is Life." How awesome is that? If I wasn't afraid of infection at this point, I would get that tattoed somewhere... lol Oh, gawd, can you just see me? Me: Hey, can you tattoo this on my hip? Tattoo guy: Sure. Me: Just let me move this tube with the freaky liquids running out of my stomach out of your way, and watch there cause that is my surgical drain, and not over those staples, and watch out for the electrodes.... Tatto guy: Uhhhh <backing away> <snort>

I had a coupon but they wouldn't accept it. Really? Bastards. If you can't get it, then I am going to yank out this tube and boycott!!! (so just for you... I quit... giggles) Did you have the 2 for 1 special or the All You Can Bleed coupon?
Pyro Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Really? Bastards. If you can't get it, then I am going to yank out this tube and boycott!!! (so just for you... I quit... giggles) Did you have the 2 for 1 special or the All You Can Bleed coupon? Just 25% off. I appreciate you offering to boycott, but lets see if I can get my dialysis first.
Author VandGsMom Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 Note to self: Red Kool Aid is a BAD BAD BAD choice when having dialysis... scares the snickers out of you when you see all that red pee...
quankanne Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I guess Big Red is out, too, innit?

Or is something different??
dropdeadlegs Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 I have an extra kidney. I might need to be better to both of them for at least a short time, but I'm not kidding....I really have an extra and it sounds like you would take better care of it than I do. Red kool-aid? That's the least of my kidneys worries.

Or is something different?? Yes!! That is the same one! Dosen't it just make you happy every time you read it? I have another one that I use when I am writing to mark my place in my outline that says "Wisdom Come From Wonder". It just inspires me to look at it, and so appropriate when writing a childrens book, no?

My nephrologist said to give it 3 months on dialysis before we decide if my body is ever going to heal itself or if I should just give up and let go. I don't think that there is alot of middle ground. Your attitude is wonderful though, and if you really want to help there a thousand people like me. You can go to http://www.donatelife.net to learn more about being an organ or tissue donor and see the list of thousands waiting for a new life. You really touched me with that one. Thank you.

Author VandGsMom Posted December 13, 2006 Author Posted December 13, 2006 lol... not to be a bummer but the "not ever" is a bad thing. If my body dosen't kick in, there isn't alot they can do because with all of the other surgeries I have had, it disqualifies me for the transplant list most likely. It is an eventuality that they are preparing me for. Not to worry, though... brinksmanship seems to be my sole exercise as of late, and God knows that if anyone wants to watch their children grow up, it is me, so if it is meant to be, it WILL be. I have faith.
LN99 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Kudos to you for your good attitude towards it all. My mom has been on dialysis for over 5 yrs now. She would have gotten a transplant but is not a candidate due to having slow growing bone cancer(for over 4 yrs now). By some miracle, she is still with us. She tells me her inspiration is my sister and me. Plus, its all about her attitude. Attitude is everything. Just hang in there. Your kids need you!
