Guest Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 When this couple were married, spouse#1 adopted the children (aged 7 and 10 at the time) of spouse#2. 17 years later, they are getting divorced. The elder child now has own family. Both children are on very good terms with spouse#1. What will happen to the adoption once the couple divorce? Will spouse#1 no longer be an adoptive parent of the two (adult) children by default since they were linked only by spouse#2? Oh and also, will the adopted children play any part in divorce court decisions? Really appreciate if anyone can share your knowledge.

If it were done legal, then spouse #1 will still be the legal father. adoption by the courts see that the said child(ren) are yours. I adopted a little girl and she is mine on the birth cert. and so is my husband. if we divorce he is still legaly her daddy. as far as the children go it will be up to the divorce parents on how they will interact with them.
