stupidgirlbitty Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Me and my fiance moved to Canada from UK 2 years ago now, now another couple ill call them B&B also moved here a week before us and both men work for the same company. Being as we were both new to the country and came over at the same time we became very close and hung out about 4 times a week and every weekend. We had plenty of laughs and I thought we were really good friends. A few months later a few people had told me that B&B always had nasty things to say about us - they would use us a the main topic of discussion when they were talking to anyone else - even mutual friends - they would slag us off all of the time - with no reason - they would make up reasons and lie about us. I confronted them about this and they just smirked at me and it was obvious that they had done this to get at us and make other people dislike us so they could be THE NEW GREAT ENGLISH COUPLE IN TOWN....we could not beleive this - after all that we had done for them and the friendship that we thought we had. This continued and with every new friend that came into our lives B&B would somehow find out who are friends were and would start inviting them round to their house - did not invite us though - they would invite all of our new friends to their house and then talk about us in a bad way non stop. This has carried on and on and on and on and there seems no end to it - we are no longer friends with them - it is like they want everyone to hate us and like them so they slander our name to every new person in town ! I am at my wits end with this and I want revenge on these people - how can they get away with this and how stupid are other people to beleive anything that they say . Me and my fiance are good honest people and dont deserve this and have done nothing to deserve this ! Has anyone out there come across people like this - I need my own back
bluetuesday Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 revenge gets you nowhere. you'll come off as a bitch and still have no friends. if people want to talk about you, there's nothing you can do but let it ride and prove through the way you live your life that the people who lied about you did just that. it's skewed thinking to want to be nasty to prove to some people who don't like you anyway that you're not nasty. if you seek revenge, all you will be doing is confirming the lies. you want that? it's your call. just don't do it with any illusion revenge is going to make you look good, feel good or make people realise what a nice person you actually are.

I agree 100% - the best revenge is living your life well. You can't make forward progress if you keep looking back.
