Hello,

I have a question about marriage and my relationship.

I have been with my boyfriend for 2 years. He is 27 I am 21. We have an extremely good relationship when it comes to pretty much everything, I KNOW he definetly wants to have children and get married in his life.

Ok so my question is, he always talks about it being with me like for example its kinda in a joking way I guess thats why Im asking ill say "what wife is going to put up with your messyness" (as a joke) and he says "well I guess i should be asking you that".

He always talks about kids with me, moving into a house with me, his family with me etc.

He is started to get a lil older and he knows this. He is very serious with me, do you think since he is older and wants to start a family soon that it is in his mind that he wants that with me? He says he doesn't want to waist anymore time on meaningless relationships so he would never hurt me or wreck thigns.

His brothers talk about us being together, his family and well he pretty much always mentions little jokes about our kids and getting married.....I usually don't ay anything. I love him more than anything and do want all this too with him (from what I know) I have been in a 4 year relationship that didn't work so Im not stupid in thinking I love him because its been two years.

I just don't say anything back, I do sometimes but he is always the one to bring it up never me.

I don't know if I explained this properly Im sure i didn't I don't know how to give enough deals and explain what I mean because I guess im writing to strangers! :) but if anyone has any comments or input please let me know!

Thank you

I'm really not sure what you're asking here. It seems that your boyfriend is getting ready to settle down, but you're not certain?

You're 21, and that's young by most anyone's standards to be getting married and starting a family. He's 27, and although he may be ready, don't let him pressure you into settling down when you're not ready. I'm sure you've heard this, but you have so much growing up to do.

Okay, I'll fess up, I got married young (22).

I love my husband, I like being married to him.

That said, if I had to do it over again, I would've waited. I'm JUST now coming into myself, it'd be a lot easier to process if I didn't have the larger construct of a marriage to also deal with. I wouldn't divorce my husband because of it, I'm just saying, adding being newly married to just getting out in the real world and it's a doozy. I feel like I went from daughter to wife without getting to just be "Katie" in between. So now I have to be both wife and figure out "Katie" at the same time. Do-able, but a pain in the @$$.

Why are you in such a hurry to get married? Most of the time when people that are still in their early 20's get married it ends in divorce. Don't you want to live a little and experience some of life on your own before you start a "shared" life w/ someone else?

I dunno. Just doesn't sound all that healthy to me. He's obviously thinking of getting married though. But I wouldn't do it if I were you. There is nothing wrong w/ dating him for a few more years, and then having a LONG engagment. He says he doesn't want to waste any time, but at 27...honestly he's got a lot of time left and so do you.

I mean, you want to be Britney Spears and have two kids and be divorced by 25???

my fair kaite and Jennifer I totally agree with you guys even if I do feel that way and think I want that there is nothing wrong with waiting a couple years instead of ended up in something I don't want to be in/not ready.

Thank you very much for your opinions I appriciate and really took it into consideration thanks!
