herenow Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Here is a book that would be the perfect Xmas present for all the OW in your life: Will he Really Leave Her for Me? Author - Rona B. Subotnick Available on-line and at your favorite book store.
NoIDidn't Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 Here is a book that would be the perfect Xmas present for all the OW in your life: Will he Really Leave Her for Me? Author - Rona B. Subotnick Available on-line and at your favorite book store. I absolutely HATE this book. Sorry for the negative tone. She spends so much time trying to tell the OW in *non-judgmental* tones that the R is likely going no where, that it sounds like she is talking to a kindergardener. Its the same thing that anyone else will tell OW, only said much nicer. Too nice.

I didn't read this book, but I did read one she wrote about Surviving Infidelity and I though is was very informative. I just thought it would be beneficial to see what a therapist has to say about the subject. Yes, I agree her books are an easy read, but she does make some good points in the one I read. People say that there is so much information geared towards the BW and healing the marriage. I thought it would be appropriate to share that there was something out there that answers a question that is so often asked by OW.
Freedom Now Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I have a better list of books to read: Love Must Be Tough by Dr. Charles Dobson He's Just Not That Into You by Greg Behrendt Got them both, love them both.

Not in the least. I am not OW, but I found the book insulting to a grown woman. I read it when I found out about my H's EA. I wanted to know the mind of what the OW may be thinking. She really handles the OW and her feelings with kid gloves is all I am saying. I really didn't like the book. She does do a great job of humanizing the BW, though. If I were OW, I don't think I would find the book helpful as it is just so condescending.

I did hear good things about the Greg Behrendt book. Maybe I'll get that one to read on the plane.

Freedom Now Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 But the "mother" of all books is this one: Get Rid Of Him by Joyce Vedral. Absolutely fabulous. EVERY woman should read this one! Empowering, empowering, empowering!

I guess I didn't want to insult your intelligence by recommending a book that is condescending. I read a sample of the book and I can see how you would think that she has her kid gloves on. Maybe that is because, as we see here so often, it's a very touchy subject. She does try her best to be nonjudgmental, and it starts to sound like she's walking on egg shells to get her point across. Maybe that's because if she came off as harsh no OW would buy the book.

Empowering, empowering, empowering! I just took a look at the table of contents in this book. Yes, you are right, this is the one to get! She addresses everything that is talked about on this forum. Change the Xmas list now!
Freedom Now Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I read "Will He Leave Her for Me." It was okay. There are some valid points made in it, but other books are better. I think an ideal Christmas gift for all women would be a book than empowers them to never, ever settle. THAT, in my opinion, is the type of book every woman should read.

"Assessing an Affair" sounds promising... do you have the book?
frannie Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 So this chapter, 'assessing the affair'... does she suggest how to do that? Spotting a cake-man? Assessing whether or not he's going to leave or not..? Deciding if the affair is enough for you?
