B-Day present - how much to spend?

Dating this guy from for a couple of months. His birthday is coming up next week. I already bought him something, but I am debating spending more money on a different gift. How much money should I spend? We haven't been going out very long, but I also want him to be happy.

it's not about the money, it's about the gift. It really depends on how well you know him and what his likes/dislikes are. I would say a book or DVD or something along those lines on a subject or topic he is really into would do the trick. It shows you were thinking about the gify not whatit cost. Spend too much he will feel embarassed but if it is a gift you know he would like he won't care if you picked it up for 10 bucks. It really and truly is the thought that counts.

( (1% of your income) * (1 + (months in relationship/12) ) ) * (sales tax) * (standard of living adjustment) = gift amount

 

Honestly it is the thought that counts, something he wanted or could use, and ultimately your ability to pay.

 

Since you mentioned it was not that long, the amount shouldn't be really high. Heck even a shower or special position for his bday might even be worth it.
