coco_milkshake Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Hey all! I have been feeling unwell for quite some time now...almost 5 or 6 months to be exact but these past couple of months are proving more difficult for me. I get chest pains which originally started on my left side and it made it difficult for me to breathe properly. I assumed it was due to my lack of eating as I have been struggling to gain weight for quite a while. I am currently 92 pounds and for my height (I am 5'2") I am supposed to be at least 115 pounds. I was just under 80 pounds at one time so to get to 92 pounds now is a great acievement. However, these past few months, the pains in my chest has spread. Its moved now to both the centre and the right side too and its become more of a throbbing pain than sharp. I feel like my chest is being compressed and its not nice I suffered 2 seizures 4 days apart just under a month ago and I have never had them before in my life. You guys are probably wondering why I havent been to see a doctor. Well my parents dont let me out of the house unless it is for university and my mum knows that I lost 7 pounds in one day a month ago and she just told me to eat more when I told her I need to see a doctor. I tried telling my dad about my chest pains and he told me to take a couple of painkillers and I will be fine. I am resorting to going to a health centre behind their backs which was recommended by the SWA this Wednesday coming and I find it unbelieveable that it has come to this. I just hope I havent left things too late.
TYASAFAHICSI Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Yes, go to a health center. Call 911 or whatever the emergency number is in your country. Certainly do not rely on ANY public bulletin board for medical advice!
Pyro Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 You might want to have that looked at. This your life we are talking about and your parents will not let you go to the doctor? Now I see why you want to move out ASAP. If they aren't going to help you, then you need to take actions yourself. Get out of that house, go to the doctor, and you should report your parents negligence.
My Fair Katie Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Holy Crap! If I were you I'd be tempted to fake a seizure while at school and hope someone calls an ambulance. But scheming aside, you need to take care of you! I'm so sorry to hear about your health. I know I'm not much help, but wow, lots of sympathy from my little corner.
Author coco_milkshake Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 I am worried since the pains have changed slightly, as in its spread so I am hoping it is nothing too serious...
Author coco_milkshake Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Heart problems or anything like that at 21 years of age is not normal
Pyro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Come to think of it, I do know someone that is underweight like yourself. She is about your age as well. She is having pains inside as well. It turns out that her body is having difficulties digesting foods. She has gone to the doctors already and is currently waiting for a follow up. I strongly suggest that you go to the doctors ASAP. One of my best friends lost his dad a few months ago via sudden heart attack. He was only 42 years old.
CardPlay3r Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 No it's not...but noone but a doctor can tell you what it is...

I would be interested to know as it sounds like it might be the case with me.
the_alchemyst Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Heart problems or anything like that at 21 years of age is not normal No, it certainly is not. I can empathize with you completely on this. Sometimes people get chest pains due to stress, which is an indicator that you need to relax. However, more frequent chest pains, especially if they happen for no apparent reason, need to be checked out by a doctor ASAP. I started to feel chest pains late last year, and kept putting it off because I thought they were nothing, and because my parents were in lala land. This was a completely wrong thing to do, though, as it later turned out that I actually did have a medical heart problem. I'm not saying you do, and goodness I hope you don't, but you need to go to a doctor ASAP! You are underweight and this puts unnecessary strain on your heart. If your parents won't take you (and I completely relate to this, too), go by yourself or take a good friend. I was not fortunate enough to have medical insurance, so I had to pay with whatever money I had, but if you are insured, ask someone to go with you, if you don't want to go alone, and GO! Don't overlook this, please.
Pyro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 That sounds bad Do you still talk to her? I would be interested to know as it sounds like it might be the case with me. I still do when she is in town. She lives in another state. Unfortunately she won't be back here until Christmas. I can ask her then.

Author coco_milkshake Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 Ok turns out I wont be able to go on Wednesday, I have too much uni work and if I ignore it I will fail this year for sure as there are no re-sits in fourth year. Im going to reschedule it to the following week which will be less stressful for me. Generally...chest pains now and again but not as bad as before. Doesnt mean that things are getting better for me but at least no seizures *touches wood*
InsanityImpaired Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 At least the pains are less severe now . Hopefully you can get an appointment as soon as possible, so you know what causes these pains.

Guest Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Are you saying you didn't even go to hospital when you had SEIZURES???????? My god, woman GO NOW TO A DOCTOR!!!!!!! Cripes, you might not be around next week.
Author coco_milkshake Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 I am so tired. Yesterday I felt so bad and I aint felt like that in about 3 or 4 weeks. I was so stressed regarding my coursework that I didnt have my dinner. I started shaking and I couldnt move from the pc. I managed to get up 4 times but I almost fell each time and I struggled to get back on to the chair. I felt so uneasy and I honestly thought I was going to have another chest pain attack again but touch wood I didnt. I felt hungry and knew that it wouldnt help if I starved myself so I resorted to crawling out into the hallway, bum shuffled down the stairs and staggered into the kitchen to make myself a sandwich because I didnt have the strength to cook something. I felt a bit better after I finished it. I staggered back upstairs and talked to CP ^^ on MSN for a while. The angel keeps telling me to take care of my health *gives CP a hug* - I am going to phone the health centre and re-arrange an appointment for next week. I was so stressed yesterday it totally slipped my mind.
