chill chic Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 A guy had said that to me awhile back, while we were in a slight heated discussion. Well, to what extent would he mean by that? Like no one in his life has ever understood him? What does he mean by that? And does he want me to follow up on that? Should I mention it to him, and see what he says? Or is it off limits for me to ask? I was just wondering if he was trying to hint to me that he wanted me to talk to him or he felt comfortable talking to me. We didn't really say much after that, because I don't think he was ready to spill the beans. Like I said, should I follow up on this with him?
alphamale Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Like I said, should I follow up on this with him? no, I don't think so..
Author chill chic Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 no, I don't think so.. could you elaborate on that more...just curious as to why you say that, that's all.
alphamale Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 could you elaborate on that more...just curious as to why you say that, that's all. maybe tomorrow, i'm tired now.
Author chill chic Posted December 3, 2006 Author Posted December 3, 2006 maybe tomorrow, i'm tired now. k, I'll remind you tomorrow then jk..I need to get to bed anyway..it's 2:30 am, and I'm just happy I have power, big ice storm kept me indoors, it's rough out there, trees falling & everything uhh ok I need to get to bed
magichands Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Like no one in his life has ever understood him? I know the feeling. I'm still waiting for somebody to get one of my jokes. Just one! Is that too much to ask?! At this point I don't even care if they fake it. And does he want me to follow up on that? You have made it clear to him that you will be there for him if he ever wants to talk. That's all you can do. Unless you can borrow Wonder Woman's golden lasso of truth, that is. And I have heard rumours of rare success with more dishonourable methods, like getting him drunk, and shining a bright light in his face. It's wonderful that you're reaching out to him. Putting your heart on the line like that takes real courage. I think you just have to realise that if he doesn't open up to you, then he's probably not the one you want to trust with your heart. He's not prepared to show similar courage.

Usually that means that no one ever agrees with him on what he thinks. Its just an immature response. Is he the stubborn type?
daphne Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 From knowing no other context than the little you provided, I'd say he may well be a self centered narcissist. Reminds me of something an ex said that was one.
Author chill chic Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Usually that means that no one ever agrees with him on what he thinks. Its just an immature response. Is he the stubborn type? ah..could be, yah he's a little stubborn. so it has nothing to do with "past problems" right?
Pyro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 ah..could be, yah he's a little stubborn. so it has nothing to do with "past problems" right? There's always that chance, but its merely impossible to understand a stubborn person, so he answered his own question. If he is a close friend of yours, then by all means keep trying to reach out to him and to try and get him to communicate. But in most cases, a person usually says that because they are immature.

But in most cases, a person usually says that because they are immature. that's very true about the stubborn part. how much is too much reaching out though? like how do you know when to stop trying to help him? if he doesn't respond? are there guys like that, who are afraid of help? stubborn & immature guys huh? probably so
Pyro Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 that's very true about the stubborn part. how much is too much reaching out though? like how do you know when to stop trying to help him? if he doesn't respond? are there guys like that, who are afraid of help? stubborn & immature guys huh? probably so Some guys have this ridiculous belief that if they reach out for any type of help, then it makes them look like a wuss or less of a man. There is nothing wrong with reaching out for help for the sake of improving one's life. Sounds to me like you have tried enough. Just tell him, "I am trying to help you. If you ever want to talk about things, you know how to reach me." Leave it at that and let him open up to you.

magichands Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 If he doesn't open up soon he will... explode!! And that could get messy. We'll have to send in the bunny army to clean up. :bunny::bunny:
