alphamale Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I have seen too that it's more common that smokers tend to be with smokers and same the other way. I've seen more couples where one smokes and the other doesn't
Walk Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Well.. I smoke, so no, smoking isn't a turn off for me. I don't mind if a person doesn't want to date a smoker for whatever reason.. but I'd prefer to date someone who has had some sort of addiction to a lessor degree. Screwed up, I know. But I have a really addictive type personality, some people don't. I can't moderate my smoking. It's all or nothing. People who aren't like this don't understand. THey just say quit and tell me how easy it is. But I have quit before. One time was for 8 months.. .and EVERY SINGLE DAY, I still wanted a cigarette. It wasn't like... wanting a piece of chocolate and just telling yourself no. It wasn't a "want", it felt like starving. Felt like pain, need, desire, and longing all rolled up into one long forever. If you haven't been there. You don't know. Plus.. every one has some kind of gross, disgusting "flaw" that they are attempting to hide. At least you can see it right away with a smoker. If you know why people smoke, then you can peg half their personality right off the bat. And knowing what drives a person gets you ten steps closer to figuring out if that's someone you want in your life anyway. And last reason I would rather associate with smokers.. I have gone to events, conferences, seminars, and other events and couldn't get a single person to talk to me. The second I go to the "smoking pit" to light up, there's 10 people there with something to talk about... I've gotten more information from smokers then talking to the same amount of non-smokers. The social stigma bonds us or something. The outcasts of society that have to stick together. If I need info.. I go light up a cigarette, and within moments I have someone talking. Non-smokers are too scared to talk. Too worried about life. Too timid. Too meek.

Also, when a non-smoker asks me why i smoke i just tell them i'm addicted to nicotine. Short & honest.
Pyro Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I'd rather associate with non-smokers because I am more of the active type. I rollerblade, throw the frisbee, and even play some baseball. Most smokers are too winded and out of shape and will rarely ever join me. They would rather sit around, while most non-smokers will join me, but to each their own I guess(if thats how the saying goes.)

Pyro Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 oh so you think you better than smokers? that smokers are beneath you and your clean and boring lifestyle? smoker are people too and some of the most fun and outgoing people are smokers. Alright Alpha, please go back and show me where I used the phrase better than or they are underneath me. Geez, you are always so quick to assume. Like Walk, I was stating why I associate with my type (non-smokers) better then smokers. Did I strike a nerve? Who are you to judge my lifestyle? I wasn't up all night purposely trying to get to a certain number of posts. I can't wait to hear your reaction when smoking is banned from public places in our lovely state.

You mean smoking isn't already banned in public places in your state? It is in mine. I, as a smoker, just avoid those places. No biggie.

No, our state is slow and behind the times, which could be part to blame why unemployment is the worst here than anywhere else in the U.S.
BareGoddess Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 No, our state is slow and behind the times, which could be part to blame why unemployment is the worst here than anywhere else in the U.S. Interesting. I didn't know that.
Pyro Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Interesting. I didn't know that. Some of the reasons why I am probably out of there once I graduate and save up some cash.
IpAncA Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 O yeah are state sucks. Were the worst state for ecomony.

Up until I broke my back, I was active in mountain biking (not the wussy kind you do), snowboarding, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, etc.... A 20 mile bike ride through some of the toughest mountain bike trails you'll ever see was par for the course. You wussy non-smokers always got skeered and turned back when I used to take 'em.

Looking back, I did make it look like I was generalizing. I was not, but rather like everyone else, I was just staing my opinion and my personal experience with smokers. So you are challenging me to some mountain biking? How do you know I haven't taken on real mountain biking? You are on little lady.
daphne Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I'm a smoker that used to work out 5 days a week for singles tournament/league matches. I could have run you ragged, Riddler. I will admit, now that I've cut down to almost nothing, I don't have to work out as intensely. That being said, I'm trying to quit and I don't date smokers. I know that's a double standard but honestly, it does smell. Plus, I want to be the bad one in a relationship.

He thinks he's so high & mighty. 5 yrs ago I used to know this dude who was a light smoker (half pack/day) and he was a marathon runner, you know the 26 mile or km race. He was in superb shape. That being said, I'm trying to quit and I don't date smokers. I know that's a double standard but honestly, it does smell. Plus, I want to be the bad one in a relationship. me too! I smoke and most of my g/fs have been non.

I won't even mention the 500 times you have been guilty of hypocrasy here on LS....... Where on earth do you have proof of me being a hypocrite and I did admit to my generalized written statement. Did you miss that post? I am the last person on earth to think that I am better than anyone else. You are on a roll with the assumptions today.
Walk Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 So you are challenging me to some mountain biking? How do you know I haven't taken on real mountain biking? You are on little lady. I'll take you on in snowboarding if you're up for it? I never learned to appreciate mountain biking in snow and ice.... I'll meet you at Nub's Nob for the (drum roll) "Bunny Slope Challenge!!!!!" (Gasp) (I'm just joking... I can't even afford their 1/2 day lift price right now. )

Hopefully I will be trying it for the first time this winter. It looks like alot of fun. Can you ski? I'm up for a challenge. I know what you mean. The prices are so freakin expensive where ever you go.

Plus, I want to be the bad one in a relationship. If I quit, I'd have a hard time dating/living with a smoker. Not the smell and stuff, but just that I know it's hard enough to stick to never smoking again, and I don't think I could take the temptation....

You'll crash and burn so much the first several times you go that you'll swear you'll never go again. Keep going and suddenly it all clicks. Then it's a blast!!!!!!!!!! Skiing seems so boring to me now.
daphne Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 me too! I smoke and most of my g/fs have been non. Are you the girl in the relationship too? That's how I manage to get away with just about everything.
daphne Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 I'll take you on in snowboarding if you're up for it? I never learned to appreciate mountain biking in snow and ice.... Don't take the nonsmoker, take me. I loved it the first time I did it. Sadly, I also broke my wrist the first time I did it. It was right after I learned to go fairly fast and just before I learned how to stop. Who knew snowboarding isn't the same as skateboarding?

That is good to know that its nothing like skateboarding because that is something I don't know the first thing about.
