LaughMachine Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 So most of you know I have severe anxiety. Took zoloft, didn't work so I will be going back to the doctors to possibly try lexapro. I'm taking good vitamins, working out and I recently picked up RESCUE REMEDY. Which is a small little droplit container of liquid. Go figure the liquid taste like alcohol but it only takes up 27% of alcohol.I have situational anxiety so with anyone relating to that type of problem will really benefit from RESCUE REMEDY. You can carry it any where you go and will easily calm your nerves. So if anti d's aren't much help to your anxiety. I sugguest you try your all to find alot of natural remedies that will help. Even if it only helps a little, It is worth a try. Anxiety sucks and once you have it for years you will do anything to get rid of it!
KittenMoon Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Don't mix anti-ds and that over the counter stuff. Bad mojo. Many things can interact with them badly... St Johns wort, 5-HTP, etc Ask your doc before mixing stuff.
SoCalCatman72 Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Don't mix anti-ds and that over the counter stuff. Bad mojo. Many things can interact with them badly... St Johns wort, 5-HTP, etc Ask your doc before mixing stuff. I second that. Once I took St. Johns Wort with anti-D, ended up having bad seratonin syndrome for about a day. Your Pharmacist can also help you with contraindicated vitamins/herbs/medicines. I'm currently taking Lexapro, it seems to be helping my anxiety and depression.
Author LaughMachine Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 KittemMoon- I am not taking anti d's at the moment. I actually stoped them cold turkey and surprisngly had no side affects. I guess that shows how much they weren't going to work for me? who knows but I'll be going to my doctor again shortly. Serotonin syndrom? I should really look that up. I've always tried to put in too works what my anxiety felt like but that sums it down perfectly. but mine would be abnormal lack of serotonin haha.I'm trying to find a fix, I'm more passionate about finding my fix more this year than I ever have been. I've tried stuff in the past than given up and got comfortable with situations I was in. But I'm going to try my hardest to find a close to almost perfect cure. Sorry to rant on about my self !Can you imagine not being able to sleep from stress? Or certain situations that are stressful. HORRIBLE. So if it doesn't really help in certain situations I'm sure it will help with sleep I lose when under stress.

Art_Critic Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Go figure the liquid taste like alcohol but it only takes up 27% of alcohol. Stronger than beer and wine but not as strong as liquor... any medicine that has that much alcohol in it is only being sold for the Alcohol content...
dropdeadlegs Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 This Rescue Remedy sounds interesting to me. I suffer from occasional bouts of anxiety and was prescribed Xanax once which worked wonders for me. I think I had the lowest dose, it was .25 milligrams. That dosage would take the edge off, calm me down, but didn't make me feel drugged or loopy. I made my script last far longer than it was intended for by only using it when needed, not twice daily as prescribed. I don't take any medication at the moment, but I also went off Prozac once cold turkey without a problem and did the same with Effexor XR. I know this is not recommended and don't mean to imply that anyone should do it. The Prozac (20 mg) worked for me depression wise, but I had absolutely no sex drive, even found it a bit repulsive. (That may say more about my spouse at the time than the drug, who knows.) The Effexor XR made me feel so tired all the time. I tried taking it at night but it was sleep disruptive. I know several people who take Lexipro successfully. Back to the Rescue Remedy, where did you get it? It sounds like it might be handy in a pinch if I have a short term anxiety issue. I don't currently have medical insurance coverage so doctors and prescriptions are almost out of the question for me. I totally understand what it feels like to have anxiety so bad that you cannot sleep. My last profession gave me that kind of anxiety most of the time. Actually many of my jobs have eventually led to that kind of anxiety. I don't work currently and feel very little stress in my everyday life, but who knows what tomorrow may bring. Rescue Remedy could be useful to me at some point.
Author LaughMachine Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 It's not a perfect cure. It's just something on the side to contribute a little help for anxiety. There is no way taking these little droplets can make you feel the least bit drunk. So I doubt people are buying it for that purpose. I don't see whats so bad with taking a little bottle of liqour and droplet aplicator with you. I've honestly thought about it but buying rescue remedy makes it alot more legal lol. So go for it! You can get it online, Gnc stores. They have the spray for about 20 and the little droplits for 10. You can either drop the droplits under your tounge. Or put four droplits in water and drink that. Taking it with water is better considering you don't have to taste much haha
Art_Critic Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 It is on QuackWatch as a questionable product http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mentprod.html Scroll on down to Bach Remedies I personally think you are wasting your money on Rescue Remedy Just Google Rescue Remedy scam and see what pops up. Save your money and go the doctor for medicines
KittenMoon Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Even if you quit the zoloft, it's probably still in your system. Why not shelve the rescue remedy and try the lexapro- its chemically similar to celexa and that's worked wonders with my anxiety. ANd once again, talk to your doctor before mixing anything.
blind_otter Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Well screw everyone else. I like the Bach's Rescue remedy. You take 5 drops of the stuff mixed in water so it's not ever alcoholic at all. I talked to my psychiatrist about it and she said it looked fine to her. So there, underware. That said, WWIU recommended this to me and it was a life saver when I was at my Dad's funeral. I was already on tranquilizers that didn't really help very much. This helped me.

Author LaughMachine Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 I will talk to my doctor about lexapro and mixing. I will be seeing her tuesday! But rescue remedy is a good little fix for situations! JUST SAYING haha
