Ok, my dumb question for today :p

English is not my first language, and I was wondering what this thing is called...

Here is a picture of Solid Snake

I am referring to the thing Snake is wearing around his forehead. What is that called? I tried looking for bandana, but it looks different.

And just to keep this post relevant to the topic of relationships, I might add this. Girls, what do you think about a guy wearing this? Is it cool? Is it gay? Is it media-whorish? Is it irrelevant? :p

Thanks in advance :)

I don't know what it's called, but I wear something similar. It's called a hachimaki.

And yes, it is sooo gay!

Just kidding. It's irrelevant. Unless he refuses to take it off (for special occasions like weddings), or wash it, or something even more peculiar.

I think it's childish, like a gamer who isn't getting enough of video gaming that he has to act on it.

Run! :lmao:

Haha. I did a little more quasi-research for you.

In addition to filling out Solid Snake's backstory, this game marks the first appearance of Yoji Shinkawa's character designs and the Shinkawa-designed Snake, characterized by the dark grey "sneaking suit" and bandana, would become the dominant design in all later games.

I still think it's a hachimaki.

Okay, it's time to sum-up. It's called a headband, and he's a game freak. Unless you have a magical way of plugging into his virtual psychopathic delusions of grandeur, you're never going to find a way to truly "connect" with him.

The other possibility is that he's gay.

Either way, you'll have your work cut out to "change" him. Best to accept him as-is, if you can.

The original poster did not state that the man in question's preference for the headband came specifically from that game.

Does this man have a history of being or of dressing like, say, a 1970s-1980s basketball player, or perhaps a motorcyclist from those same eras? A sweatband for the former or bandanna for the latter may not be out of character.

Whether it's appropriate or relevant in this day and age is another matter, of course.
