gonetildecember Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I'm a huge movie fan.. i watch just about everything: drama, suspence and romantic comedies are my top choices tho... was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions.. doesn't have to be recent stuff.. I'm usually pretty good with those.. but any "hidden gems" as blockbuster calls them. Some recent good ones I've found: 1. Higher Learning (Drama)- Takes place on a college campus and deals with race, violence, homosexuality, sex, sports, education.. really good movie. 2. The Princess Bride (action/drama/romance)- Kind of a classic romance involving a princess, giants, battles...etc.. very different but a good movie. 3. Taking Lives (Suspense)- Based in Canada , FBI/suspense type movie with Angelina Jolie and Ethan Hawke ...
fatty Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Oh man, I love movies. I am a movie freak!!!! Just finished watching trust the man right now. Great romantic comedy. It has closure and makes you feel all mushy inside. 1) the notebook - another romantic movie. Excellent and raw acting. Grab a box of tissues for the end. 2) Half nelson - Drama - Slow paced movie. History teacher battling drugs while telling kids to be good. Great movie but it's slow. 3) Prime - Romantic comedy. This movie is quiete funny to watch. love the ending and the way it was performed. 4) Constant gardener - Drama/Thriller/Romance. Although alot of people take take the politica/social message of the movie they lack to see the power of love displayed in this movie. Oh man, I am a romantic movie freak. Well it figures because I can't find romance in any other areas of my life so I fill it through movies. Tell me some more good movies. I like your choices.

TheSilentType Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 1. Slingblade - This is a very good movie. The acting was great 2. American Psycho - Disturbing and funny at the same time. If you don't like movies with violence then don't watch this 3. Brahm Stoker's Dracula 4. Gladiator 5. Braveheart 6. The Silence of the Lambs 7. Psycho I like a lot of film noir, war films, and films with dark themes. But on the otherhand, I also like some of the dumbest films ever made...especially parodies of famous films. I won't list the comedies I like because there just so damn stupid...but they still make me laugh
alphamale Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 let me make a suggestion. go to the academy awards website and look at all the movies that were nominated for best pic for each year, not just the winner. this is a superb way to start.
Author gonetildecember Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 I shall consult that list.. Thanks Alpha... but other suggestions are still welcome.

KittenMoon Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 actully i haven't....its hard to see the muppets as a serious cinematic endeavour. Oh lighten up! It's a comedy! Not every movie needs to be some deep, emotionally riveting drama to be good.
alphamale Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Oh lighten up! It's a comedy! Not every movie needs to be some deep, emotionally riveting drama to be good. you're talking to someone who was wathcing Shallow Hal on TV yesterday...

amaysngrace Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 i'm going to need some good light-hearted and jovial humour... You should watch 50 First Dates, Alpha. It's pretty good for light-hearted humor. Ever see it?
TheSilentType Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 2. Muppet Treasure Island WTF?! You can't be serious. How old are you?
KittenMoon Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 WTF?! You can't be serious. How old are you? Oh come on. It's a FUNNY movie. It doesn't matter how old I am, I enjoy movies for all ages.
TheSilentType Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Yeah, I was just giving you a hard time about it.... It's kind of cute that you like it....but still...
KittenMoon Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Yeah, I was just giving you a hard time about it.... It's kind of cute that you like it....but still... I love things for children because they're all about having fun, being without a care, not like all the "grown-up" stuff that just weighs on us. I see/feel that stuff evrey day, I don't need movies and books to remind me of it! I still watch Saturday morning cartoons too.
dgiirl Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 i'm going to need some good light-hearted and jovial humour... Download "The IT Crowd". Some of the episodes are hilarious, and all are pretty decent. It's about the IT department of an office and how they support their coworkers etc. Pretty funny and pretty accurate at the same time. Also, "Waiting..." was a good light-hearted funny movie about a bunch of resturant waiters, and just doing stuff during work and after work. Easy going movie and it's with that hottie Ryan Reynolds
Author gonetildecember Posted November 20, 2006 Author Posted November 20, 2006 i watched Click last night.. not what i expected at all.. i enjoyed it!
