Ok, so I have myself a little crush. Actually a fairly large one considering I still don't know this guy very well. So here goes:

I met this guy by chance through a discussion group in class. I hadn't originally been attracted to him at first glance, but after talking to him in this group I was definitely impressed. So our group swapped contact info and since then we've been chatting online a little. Mostly about this class, but there's definitely other conversation mixed in. He's so easy to talk to, there's no small talk what so ever, conversationally we're very compatible. My problem is that we obviously don't know one another well enough to talk about anything really personal. So as it stands I have no idea whether or not he's single, let alone whether he's interested. I can tell he's somewhat like me, a little shy, a little reserved... so there's a good possibility this could go nowhere if neither one of us grow a pair. (That or I could have read him completely wrong, and he's just doing himself a favor...)

So really, any suggestions on how I can work the whole relationship card into very casual conversation would be appreciated. I've just gotten out of a 4 year relationship and I must say my dating/flirting skills are pretttttty rusty.

While we're on the topic... if any of you have some nice ice breakers to open up more personal conversation, that would be the icing on the cake.

(Don't you all love how it sounds like I've lived in a cave since... ever? I'm probably not as socially inept as I just made myself out to be too btw)

THANKS :D

You're on the right track...flirting is definitely the way to go to start opening the door to something more. Personally, I prefer to flirt in person...eye contact and a smile and some casual little touches are usually very easy to do and generally get the message across. So maybe you could suggest talking about your class stuff over coffee?

As for openings for more personal conversation...

"I was thinking about you the other day..." and then make something up, doesn't matter what you say you were thinking about. He'll at least know you were thinking about him.

Or..."Ugh, I'm so tired of classes, aren't you? What do you do when you need to blow off some steam?"

Or..."Are you going home for the holidays? Tell me what Thanksgiving is like at your house..."
