Hello everyone ! Before I completely register to become a member here, I have a dying urge to ask a question before fully registering. What I've always noticed about " some people " is if you tell them you like something. They look at you and say no you don't ! as if you were saying it to be " cool " I don't see the point in saying you like something, if you truely don't. Even if the appearance of it is cool. Does anyone else get bagged like this. It seems to me that when your comfortable to be your self, than people see you the correct way and give you respect. But if your a little quiet people automatically assume all these WRONG things about you...

Yeah I do and it's just a bad habit. Even I do it sometimes.

Don't sweat it and register. I agree with your comment about being comfortable with yourself, but it doesn't necessarily gain respect. I often think people will think I'm "goofy", "stupid", or whatever else they might think, but know that as long as I'm honest it doesn't really matter to me. I'm me , you're you, and they're them. We can all get along as long as none of us takes ourselves too seriously. ;)

LoveShack (aka LS) is really fun as well as informing!

This is your solution right here. Why are you not comfortable enough to say "Yes I do like such and such"?

I dont think people see you in the "correct" way. I know I see myself differently than a lot of other people see me. And it's sometimes quite interesting what other's think of me. Sometimes good... sometimes bad lol :) I just chuck the bad and focus on the good. Unless the bad has some merit that I already want to fix.

When I read this the first time, I obviously didn't understand the actual question and focused on the wrong things. Today I read it again and it all made perfect sense.

I don't do the "no you don't" thing, but I do find myself saying "yeah, right" when people say something that I find hard to believe or out of character or maybe even to sound cool. I suppose the people could be totally sincere in their statement, but I still say it anyway and in the same context as "no you don't" sayers.

I think I know what you mean. But you know what? you can never judge a book by It's cover. I've learned that from work that even the blackest of the black, can love all the same things you do. And I am not being racist just sterotypical. Alot of how a person looks can give you a sample of who they are, but at the same time people can always surprise you with things. Now I've always been truthful to my self and I've gotten the " No you don't " and blah blah blah...but those are just people with their own perceptions.

There are so many people in the world that the negative ones aren't even going to compare to the ones who see you the way you are. I'm a very down to earth cool person. People don't like to think that someone with big boobs blonde hair is actually a very funny cool person. I love good music, hard music and just because I don't got tatoos everywhere people think I should be a little more researved when honestly I'm the complete opposite. Once people get to know me, and I meen the real me...thats when they see me for me and respect me.

I'm sure most of us fairly regularly get information from others that suggests they don't view us quite in the way that we view ourselves. "I don't see you managing that"/ "I can't imagine you liking X, Y and Z"/ "That's not how I see you."

It's probably best just to respond with a polite "how interesting", before pressing on with whatever plans they might be trying to derail you from.

Your just being real....there are some that haven't gotten that far yet....

I've always been a rebel, and in earlier years never gave much thought to what others thought of me...back then some things hurt others and that was not good....so now I give much thought to what is said and done and have toned down quite a bit.....but there is still that rebel...lol....hope you did join
