A huge error came to light the other day at my job. I had a choice of trying to intervene and lessen the damage or look the other way. I chose to try and correct the situation as much as possible, but the person who made the error (a friend) is in hot water now and I feel terrible. If the mistake had not been addressed, it would have caused very serious injury to another person. I don't know what I could have done differently, but my coworkers are divided on how the situation was handled and I am totally stressed. God help anyone that has to make a choice like that. Please share any similar situations and how you dealt. Thanks.

Serious injury as in physical injury? I think I need a little more info to understand what you mean, but I think your friend is the one who should feel more guilty of almost causing an injury. If you dunno what you could have done differently then you most likely did the right thing. You tried to help, you were not the one who made the error.
