Guest Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 ok well i have been thinking about this non stop and i would really like to know the answer. im 16 and my boyfriend just turned 18 in September and i just recently got pregnant by him and I've been scared thinking that he might go to jail for statutory rape because he wants to be in his child's life and i want him to be in his child's life as well as mine, but the question is can he go to jail for that reason? or will everything be fine. does it matter if it was my decision to have a child or they wouldn't care whether it was mine or his decision? i don't know but if anyone could please help me and if anyone knows a 100% sure answer i would REALLY REALLY appreciate it. I've been looking this up all night and trying to find answers and i've asked around but no one could seem to tell me a 100% sure answer.
magichands Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Look - I'm sure everything will turn out okay. It's really his problem, anyway. What sort of life do you think you can provide for your to-be child? Are you ready to be a mother? These are the questions you should be thinking about. And that's more than enough for now.
dropdeadlegs Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 The age of sexual consent varies widely. In my state it is 17. Many states it is 18, but many were 16 as well. I posted a link below that covered worldwide variances. When the page opens, there is a worldwide map at the top right. Click anywhere on the map and it will enlarge so that you can better determine the age of consent in your area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Age_of_Consent.png If you have trouble, name your area and I will repost with the answer. I simply went to Google.com and typed in "age of sexual consent" and this was the first search result. Good luck, pregnancy at 16 is certainly going to be a very long and tough row to hoe
