Guest Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I have recently re-entered the dating scene and thought I would give one of those big online dating sites a try. I am in my mid-30s, have a lot going for me, and am told quite often in the real world that I am very attractive. The problem is, these websites ask you to define your body type. I am not going to lie, I am a curvy girl. Not obese. But I do have a full chest, hips and rear (kind of like that model, Emme). Yet nearly all of the male profiles say they are looking for "slender" or "athletic and toned". Any of the profiles that say they are looking for curvy on their list of body types are usually men who have faces only a mother could love. So what's a girl to do? Where are all the men who like a women with a little substance (not those BBW chasers)? And don't tell me to go on a diet. I am perfectly happy and confident about my body and hourglass shape as it is. Thanks!
agnf666 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I understand what your talking about. I guess the only real way to see about that is to just talk to the guy if you are interested in on and see how it goes. Alot of guys are all thinking they want a playboy bunny, in which they know that they will never get it. they are just looking though.
tanbark813 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I have "a few extra pounds" and "curvy" included in my match settings. It goes both ways though. You see all kinds of girls who are 5' - 5'3" who have their match listed as 6'+.
agnf666 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I look mostly into someone's personality first, oh and they do have to look decent. Also, I look for the a-hole flag as well. I seem to be attracted to alot of those. If you like someone's profile just comment on it, what's the worst that could happen they don't answer you. Oh well, no loss there.
moredeborah Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I never thought of myself having a nice body because I'm not perfectly skinny, even though I've had my share of men attracted to me. But my current boyfriend pointed out that he really likes curvy women because their bodies feel nice whereas a skinny girl's body doesn't have much to grab onto, although both look equally very nice. I think the whole "be skinny" thing is something that women have created and sustain while men have their own preferences. I guess it's like how some girls like big guys and some girls like skinny guys, but when it comes down to it, it's chemistry and personality that makes a good match.
Moai Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I think that women are supposed to be curvy. As long as you are't sloppy and unhealthy looking, of course. My GF is carrying a little extra weight and I love it.
quietintrovertgirl Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Curvy women rule because i'm a size 16:laugh:
sadfish Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Be honest with who you are and how you look...confidence goes a long way. Plus if a man is THAT concerned about the outside, why would you want him anyway? Oh and for the record, i'm "curvy" too...and proud of it!
Kamille Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Most of those dating sites have photos right? I think people rely more on the pictures then on the actual description. Put your photo up and men will see how beautiful you are. Perhaps not putting in "curvy" is a way to avoid "obese", not that there is anything wrong with either. good luck and welcome back to the thrilling roller coaster ride that is the dating world.
SmoochieFace Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Curvy women rock! No offense to those who aren't curvy, of course.
allina Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I think some men stay away from checking "curvy" on those sites because they think it's just another term for fat. There isn't a set defenition for what curvy is, I consider myself "curvy" because I have t&a, but I'm a size 6/7 and men don't look at me as being fat
magichands Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 There's a fine line between pleasure and pain.
