remedylane Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 How long did it take you from the day you met that person to the day you asked them out, to form a romantic relationship? Were there any obstacles that prevented you from developing a relationship faster or were there any situations that made you fall in love quicker?
Guest Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Well, my story is kind of odd, and probably not the "normal" way to go but I first saw him June 14th (in traffic), actually met him on July 26th, went to lunch with him on the 28th and we moved in together August 3rd. I've never been happier with a relationship. That was 4 years ago.

ShoeGirl Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I met my boyfriend in February of 2003 when I applied for a job, I started work there in March, we started dating in July 2004 (yes 17 months later). He was stubborn was the main obstacle. We are both busy with school (I'm majorng in biology/pre-med and he's majoring in mechanical engineering) school had a lot to do with not dating right away. Now we are both seniors in college and going pretty strong. 17 months is definently a long time!
lovelorcet Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 sorry to pop your bubble but 17 months isn't really that long... I take about a month to get things going...
dgiirl Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 sorry to pop your bubble but 17 months isn't really that long... I take about a month to get things going... 17 months, from the first time you met someone to the time they worked up courage to ask you out is not a long time? That's pretty damn long for me. After a month of no interest, that person would get thrown into the "friend" zone.
lovelorcet Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Opps I mis read that I thought 17 months "together" Yes 17 months to get together is very long...
dgiirl Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 lol phew... i'm pretty new to the single life again, so you had me a bit scared for a second.
Walk Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I'm curious why you ask the question? Mine was about 4 months from "first official date" to the bf/gf exclusive talk. But we've known each other for nearly 15 years as friends. Nothing close, but still would hang out on occasion. I think that helped speed things along to a degree

Well I ask because I wanna get a idea of what to expect or not expect since I'm a similar situation.
ShoeGirl Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 17 months, from the first time you met someone to the time they worked up courage to ask you out is not a long time? That's pretty damn long for me. After a month of no interest, that person would get thrown into the "friend" zone. It was a long time... we joke about it all the time, but it's not like I was waiting around for him the entire time. We worked together so we saw eachother on weekends when we worked together and flirted alot. We both had our seperate lives outside of work. I wasn't dating anyone nor was I looking. When we started dating I wasn't looking, it just happened.
lovestruck234 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 Mine all happened fairly...sort of.....gradually.... We just became closer and closer. Since we were friends for about 7 years proir, we started to hang out a bit more for about a month or two, then started going out to concerts and stuff together for about a month, then started to kiss....(tee hee hee hee!!) and all of that about 4 months into our "gradual" relationship. Then one day I think we both woke up and thought "I wanna be with this girl/guy"....we both met each other half way, BY COINCIDENCE to each others houses and words began and we both realised we were going up to each others houses for the same reason... *Singing* It must be love, love, love. Nothing more, nothing less, love is the best....*singing*....
