I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on this...

Why is it that we fight and hurt our partners/GF/BF/H/W, but not our friends?

We can go for days without seeing our friends, but we still love them. We don't mind if our friends have other friends. Usually arguments are resolved quicker, and with much less venom.

It CAN't JUST be sex, surely?

This is what makes me wonder whether love really does have that element of brain chemistry to it. It would certainly explain alot of the totally crazy behaviour thats associated with it....

Maybe its because we see boyfriends, wives, etc as MY boyfriend or MY wife. There's a sense of possessiveness in our most intimate relationships because we constantly fear they will be stolen from us by someone else whereas, with our friends, we think of them as free individuals and our equals so consequently we give them more respect.
