Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 hi there, seems like everyday there is one thing or another that i always seem to overlook - and one of them relates to dating sites and your profile on them. now maybe its just me, but i think sometimes people generalize and get confused as to what one person's intent is. i guess they place proirity on the majority of folks that go on these kinda site to round up some chictickitas - and that is a same because some people just go on there to check on a lost friend, or meet new people, and to date as well. i have done that two times over a total of six years so i guess you could call me a player! lol. actually, i am not one that shops around like i'm at the grocery shore. if i am looking to date someone i usually find someone i am interested in with a month - and then that's it. one of the problems is you can register for sites that are one-offers and forget you even have a profile. i remember one nite with an ex, we did a site for fun, just that one nite - and that was it. but u think i would remember the pass and id to wipe it out? nope. because if i was interested i would have taken down the info. now sites like myspace are really more like looking thru a high school yearbook or seeing who's online from japan. when you do that it means your either deepressed or bored out of yer tree. i used myspace for music things and i would add 'people' to my fave's like famous writers and people i would never ever met. in fact, i find the whole thing boring and would rather be doing something else....but that's a whole other story. and last point, if someone asked me to remove a profile - no probs. because they are real, and the computer is a machine.

What exactly are trying to ask. Here is a lesson on posting messages online: 1. Post a brief message. 2. Post a brief question. 3. Post completely.

Adunaphel Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Guest, thank you for posting and sharing your perspective. I enjoyed reading your post and what you said makes perfect sense. You seem to have very healthy priorities (taking care of real life interactions vs browsing dating sites out of boredom), but, unfortunately, many people are not like you. Luckily it's usually quite easy to tell - or know -the difference between someone who is online looking for people to hook up with or to cyber with, and someone whose intentions are innocuous.
