monkey00 Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 A couple days ago I went to get an ultrasound test around the abs, turns out I have gallstones, and they roll when i move! Odds are they started forming 1-2 years ago, and i assume it will continue to grow as symptoms can only get worse. I have an appointment to see my doctor next month as he's getting the results of the test, and i doubt he's capable of giving me any sound advice...for the fact that he's an idiot. I did some research and there are 3 possible methods to fix the problem... For anyone that's had or know someone who's had this, or in the medical field...giving me some insight into this would be of great help..
Guest Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 How, exactly, did you decide that your doctor is 'an idiot'? Given that he's passed all the requirements to be a physician and you haven't, my guess is that he's at least bright enough to be a physician. He also sent you for tests which seems to indicate that he's somewhat on the ball. I suggest before you dismiss his advice, you listen to what it is. I find it bizarre that you'd rather pay heed to the advice of strangers on a board who may be complete idiots for all you know over that of a person who has at least managed to become a physician.

A year ago i told him of some nasty coughs i had..short from finishing what i had to say or hearing me out completely, he prescribed some cough medicine, when i went again he wrote me a referral to get my lungs x-rayed. In short it was bad acid reflex as diagnosed by another doctor in the same place who moved her practice. He was the one that wrote a referral letter for the test, but ONLY because i requested it from him...even at that point he still was arrogant there was nothing wrong with my gall bladder. If i didnt tell him to, I wouldve never had the test and this problem would still remain hidden. I suggest before you dismiss his advice, you listen to what it is. I wont dismiss his advice, but my appointment with him is next month. If anything i'd like to hear what others have to say about my situation until then.
Sonitas Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 About five years ago I had my gaul bladder removed - the surgeon said it was nothing like he has ever seen - there was 12 the size of marbles!! The comment about your doctor - it can be frustrating - I complained of stomach pain for years, he sent me for stomach test, had me taking medicine..and it went on for a long time - until one fine day I had the forture of a temporary replacement doctor who said instantly....you have gaul stones! Been great ever since - it just left four small scars. Good luck!
bab Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 My advice? Get a new doctor that you feel comfortable with, and take his or her advice instead of ours.
bluechocolate Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Don't try to make jewelery out of them. They crumble to dust under a jewelers drill.

Sonitas, after having it removed, would you say there are any differences in your eating habits/diet and has it affected your ability to digest fat? I hear from differing sources that having it removed has no effect whatsoever on the body and another source is that it does affect one's ability to process fat.
LakesideDream Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I had a life long illness from an undiagnosed gall bladder problem. 5x in the hospital, exrays, ultrasound the works. My gall bladder had no "sphincter" to close it and spilled acid into my stomach and intestings for 40 years. The pain was unbelievable 4-6 times a year, especially after holidays (rich food). Gall bladder removed. Damn thing almost ruined my life. Gall Bladder function = When primitive humans (not long ago) would gourge after croaking an elephant or buffalo or something, the gall bladder would aid in digestion by releasing increased acid. Modern folks don't need it because we have grocery stores.
