Guest Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I was having coffee with a female colleague yesterday evening. Apart from being colleagues we are also good friends. I have been to her apartment couple of times but I have never invited her to my place. The reason is the current place that I live is not that great. I was looking for new apartments and finally found one. So.. while talking to my friend I casually said "I found a new apartment and will be moving in shortly. Once I move to the new place I will invite you and you can come to my apartment". Her response to this was one single sentence "Yeah we can drink wine". I found it unusual and paused for couple of seconds and then started discussing other stuff. Is her response unusual or am I just imagining things?
ely Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Do you like wine? She is telling you that when you invite her over make sure you have a nice bottle of wine "ready" for you both.

Yes I do like wine, red wine to be specific. So when you say "ready" (in quotes) are you implying that my friend expects a romantic night? I am sorry to sound naive but I am wondering because she is not just my friend she is also my colleague. That's why I want to know what a girl means when she says "we can drink wine".
Sand&Water Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Guest, Is her response unusual or am I just imagining things? You are just imagining things. Sounds like she was partially [perhaps even completely] being flirtatious with you. She wants to have a special drink with you. Good Luck, Sand&Water
Adunaphel Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 In my country suggesting to drink together to your new apartment would be a very natural thing to say. Here opening a bottle of wine and drinking it in company to celebrate the fact that you "inaugurate" a new apartment is extremely common. I don't know if it's the same in the US (or anywhere else you live), though.

Adunaphel Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Thanks guys... Man I am disappointed I thought she was "suggesting" something..... Hey! Perhaps she was, do not get your hopes up (so you won't be disappointed) but wait until you are together in front of a nice bottle of wine. Is she aware that you like her?
Guest Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Is she aware that you like her? Yes. We flirt with each other a lot. Even yesterday while having coffee she said "One second. I will use the rest-room and be right back" and I replied "Yeah sure, let's go to the rest-room together". I also keep playing with her hair.
ely Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Yes, just get the bottle, it is something that she is requesting. And who knows? But take it slow unless ofcourse she does the move.
