Tony T Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 There are thousands of books on Buddhism. Before you buy one, browse them in the religious/spiritual section of your favorite bookstore. When you find one you like, then buy it.

Just wondering:) what changes are you trying to make I have been reading it for the last year Eckhart Tolle "The Power of Now" got me started.I just felt i had no knowledge of spirituality and wanted to find out more I just find it so amazing and am fortunate to have found out about it.Happiness is another great book I read as well very very interesting. .I am very interested in their teachings and philosophies.I feel like i "get it" when I read about spiritual enlightenment. Tony T i enjoy reading at night b4 bed so thats why I buy books.I do go to the websites as well.
loveinlife Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I bought a CD from Eckhart Tolle about the "Power of Now". Its a good cd, it trains the mind to feel the precense. However, I think maybe reading it might be better as the CD was only an hour long. What did you get out of it scobro from reading the book?

How to stop your mind chatter. How to be in touch with your thinking. He talks a lot about how most people either live in the past or think future will be the salvation to their happiness, but really future doesn't exist it happens now.It is well worth the read changed my life really.I was going through a separation at the time and it helped me out a lot.
blind_otter Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 The eightfold path is a way to end suffering. This suffering can come from any source - internal emotional aggregates, external circumstances. A lot of people turn to buddhist philosophy when they are going through a period of introspection and suffering. It's a good way to deal with things and a good methodology for altering your cognitive habits so that you approach life with a better perspective.

So this is the " buddha from within" I should go take a look see. I'm all for " self improvement books " of some sort. I am not reading a book for hyper sensitive people and it helps you learn calming techniques for stress and that I should take nature walks haha
