sure, i think most girls would love it. Good choice, but make sure its not something too small like a coin purse. And try to choose a material that will last.

How old is your gf? I like Coach, but personally, I ADORE Juicy Couture.. and Dooney and Burke. (Dooney's more juvenile, and super cute, and Juicy.. is a bit more elegant, I love their really really soft material handbags )

I've always thought of preppy as being dressed up all the time, girly girl, wearing make-up, etc. The fashion-ites.

I consider myself preppy, but I hate coach, but it might be that rebellious independent streak in me that hates The Man and the Institution, and to me, coach kind of represents the thing that women are supposed to want and love...I'd rather get a really well made good looking purse at more decent prices ($40 or so). But if your gf is into brand names, then go for it!
