fin58103 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I just wanted to thank everyone for contributing to this forum- great help indeed. I have been practicing NC after my 6 month relationship ended about 3 weeks ago. She terminated the relationship because she "couldn't see me being more than a friend". I told her that us being friends would not work. When we were together, she would talk about the future in terms of what we were going to do, not herself. What a crock of *****. She happens to be a co-worker, I do not have to see her everyday, but I have forced to hear her name. No one that I work with knows about this except the receptionist- I trust her to keep quiet. I have been tempted many times to contact her and/or her friends. We all got also just great. Instead of doing so, I get off my @ss and work out, do homework, or call a friend to slap some sense into me. This past week, she walked into the office with a client. (I was not there at the time) The client put a package of beef jerkey on my chair which I stumbled upon Tuesday morning. The Ex knows I am addicted to the stuff. I just ate the stuff and never mentioned a word about it it anyone. Well, the very same day, some work issue pissed her off and consequently she put in her two weeks notice. She had been working there 4 years. Appears to me that she was looking for a reason, which is just great- no more work reminders bombarding me everyday. Next weekend I am "on-call" with her. It would be extremely rare that he folks who are on-call have no contact- I am going to do everything in my power to make that happen. I do not beleive the whole beef jerky thing was a coincidence. Not sure what her intentions were , but she knows my number. I personally think it was some passive-aggressive payback as I did not massage her ego by contacting her. I have made it this far- even in times of weakness, I have not once broke NC. As with the whole resignation, God only knows- maybe the possibility of her running into me at work affected her more than she wanted to believe. She loved the clients she worked with. But whatever, I try my best not to analyze things, but as we all know it is when we are in great emotional pain that our senses are sharpest- at least they are for me anyway. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
Diver012 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I work with my Ex as well. Its been roughly 5 months since our breakup and lemme tell you, first, and last time I will date someone I work with. We are still working together and there are awkward moments. I dont have to see her every day or really even at all. Every now and then there is the occasional staff meeting that we are both involved in but thats it. Since I am a support contact, I do have to talk with her from time to time and it is usually via email or telephone. Since I am the Director, I hand down these requests to my staff anyways, that is my job after all.. Its a shame that she is leaving after 4 years. Maybe the stress of working with your Ex is to much for her, or maybe another opportunity has come along, I honestly wouldn't read to much into it. I really wouldn't. Simply wish her well in what ever she does and let her go. Believe me your getting off the hook lucky. I wouldnt ask why if I were you, just say thank you.
