I am a woman in my 30's. I have been dating a man who is 10 years younger. I have been concerned with how I would appear to others, "robbing the cradle" "tadpoler" and such. I have read articles on women dating younger men, and it seems I am worried about nothing, that this 10 year gap is acceptable. After all, if I were a man no one would question my choice, it would automaticaly be deemed acceptable. The man I am dating is well put together, more so than some 40 year olds. He has his life together, job, finances, education, and knows what he wants, which is me. He knows how to respect and treat a woman, and is a real gentleman. So, my question is, how many people feel that this relationship is acceptable? Are the articles I read wrong or right? I am very worried about how his family would take the news that we are dating.

The only person's opinion that matters about this is yours.

There's no problem with dating or even marrying a man ten years younger than you at your age. However, as times goes on I think you will begin to see more subtle practicalities that will creep up and cause you grief...as time progresses. Take a cold shower, back off a bit and give this a whole lot of thought. Examples: When he starts to want children and you don't or can't have them. When he starts to look at women his age or younger. When you're in the car and you go for the jazz station...and he goes for rap or rock.

Enjoy yourself for the time being but understand this love stuff ain't easy under the very best of circumstances.

I also agree with superconductor. YOU are the one who's going to have to make this call based on how you feel.

Nothing wrong with it at all. I am married to a woman 15 years older than me and it is great. As long as he isn't high school age I say go for it.

There is nothing wrong with it. My parents was 10 years apart. My mother was 32 and my father was 22 when they had me.

Just be happy. Anyone who loves you will be happy that you are happy and not care about silly stuff like age.

It's fine. But be aware that he is at a different place in his life. I only date older men, so I've experienced the opposite dynamic, but I'd think the issues would be the same. Often the older man sort of has expectations for my behavior or reactions that I'm not completely capable of, yet, because I'm only in my mid-20s and I don't have all the life experience that people who are in their 30s have. I think as long as you take that into account things should be ok.

His parents may not be happy about him dating an older woman, they may be over the moon. You never know. Whether you are the same age, younger, or older than your partner....

The love of my life is 9 years younger than me. All the power to you. 1/2 of the men never grow up anyway, so you might as well have a good looking young one. I'm in my 30's...and the only guys I can get are under 28. They love me, because I look much younger than I am. If I can get a young guy...all the power to me. This girl at work is 25 and her fiance is 36. Everyone's so happy for her. Why can't an older woman date a younger guy? Who says that it's cradle robbing....Society? Who cares? Besides, women live longer than men. Also, Katie Holmes is 16 years younger than Tom Cruise and Angelina is 12 years younger than Brad Pitt. I haven't heard anyone say a single word about it. Yet, all you hear about is Demi and Ashton. Well...Demi and Ashton are happily married, and had a very normal courtship...I have yet to see the other two couples do anything about it.

I think anything over 10 years is a bit much...not for cradle robbing purposes though (and I don't mean a 25 yr old dating a 15 yr old...that's just sick)...I'm talking older 20's, 30's, 40's and up. If you go to far too young or too old, you won't have as much in common with them. My landlady is 46 and her husband 70. She's miserable, because her husband is ready to retire...and her life is just starting. She wants to go out all the time...he never does. It's a big generation gap.
