Okay. I'm just wondering.

If you're still friends with an ex and that person comes up in a conversation, what do you refer to 'em as? As your friend or as your ex?

Like, "Oh, my ________ said that to me once..." etc.

I like to say my friend because if I say my ex, it sounds so horrible... like I don't get along with them anymore and they're not part of my life.

I don't know... but my friend has a more positive tone to it, I think. I get along with both of my ex's by the way.

So I'm just curious to see what you guys do. :)

A friend.

If I thought of her and introduced her as an ex, then I am not fully over her. IMHO of course. For me to be friends with an ex, then I would have to think of her as a friend and introduce her as a friend.

A friend.

I will say my ex only if the fact that we used to date is important for the particular conversation I'm engaged in (say sharing dating experience here on LS), or I no longer keep in contact what that psycho bitch... um, I meant person.

However I have no problem adding that someone previously introduced as a friend is someone I used to date, should the correct conversation comes up.

I refer to them by their first name usually

A friend, unless the circumstances require that I refer to him as an ex.

A friend, definitely. If it's relevant, I say "a guy I used to date" or give the first name. "Ex" sounds like we were married or something, ha.
