TheSilentType Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Have you ever found yourself mimicking some of the behaviors of your SO or of someone you liked, especially when it was uncharacteristic of who you are? The pretty girl I crushed on used to cuss a lot, and I often found myself cussing a lot as well when I would be talking with her. Yet, when I was around other people I was back to normal. I almost think it may have been unconscious, and that I spoke like that when I was with her because I didn't want to be perceived as too soft. Anyone else have experiences like this?
Sally00 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Hmmmm. My boyfriend would fart around me and not even try to hide it. We'd crack up though. I found myself doing the same thing. Usually when I fart, I would hide it the best I can. Around him, I can just let it out. LOL. There's somethin'.

Sally00 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 yeah....that's uh good...you guys are comfortable around each other HAHAHAH. A little TOO comfortable if ya ask me. Well, we've been friends for over a year before we started dating. And now it's been 8 months of dating. Comfort is right!
Flicker Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I know what you mean about picking up other peoples habits and sayings. My boyfriend uses some Fijian sayings quite often and I find myself using them too. I think that it is just that we are trying to relate to them, show them that we get them.
Adunaphel Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I tend to do it too. Most of the times it's not on purpose.

Anyone else have experiences like this? yes I do this a lot. Considering that my mate selection has been generally crappy this has resulted in hilarious hyjinx, to the amusement of all. The lowest point would have to be when I was traipsing around wearing huge pants that were belted around my butt. I answered the phone one afternoon with "Yo, las' night was jacked up, dawg." I believe I had corn rows at the time, as well. My friend burst into hysterical laughter. It was a much needed wake up call.

stoopid_guy Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Yup, it's only natural to pick up things from people you admire.
