koolbear05 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I was just wondering how me, a Black woman could approach White and Asian men. I guess I'm very pretty, not being cocky but thats what people say, and usually I catch White and Asian men checking me out but they seem intimidated because of the sterotypes I guess. . . .
whichwayisup Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Just be yourself. Be confident, show your heart, be the type of woman you are, and the rest will fall into place. Sorry if that sounds corny, but if someone can't tell 'who' you are as a person and chalks you up to a sterotype, they're not worth being around.

Guest Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 you can show them that they can get from a black woman what they can't get anywhere else and usually it's a baddakadong... I m not sure I spelt that right but I mean the junk in the trunk which is a feature black woman are mmmm mmm mmmmm
fishtaco Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 You come talk to me. I like black women. I think most men don't think to date black women, just like most women don't think to date Asian men, not that they don't want to, it just never occurred to them. It's more of a "why not", than "I want". You probably have more chances with white guys than with Asian guys (unless that Asian guy is me). There is discrimination though. I hang out in mostly white areas, sometimes in mostly Asian areas. No one cared that my GF at the time was black. But we went to a black/hispanic club once, the black people, mostly other black women, stopped dancing to stare at us, and not in a nice way, you know, the teapot + neck thing. The hispanics didn't care either, but the guys wanted my GF. Mexican men love her for some reason, she was always telling me she's getting hit up on. But then again, I think it may be possible that it's more like Mexican men love all women. As for the strategy, that's tough. I'm not sure how one can tell if a guy is open to dating black women. I guess you could always be the aggressor and go after them, but then you just might find out after that they're not okay with it. For me, my situation is that a lot of Asian women aren't open to dating Asian men. So I try to guess based on their looks and/or actions. Usually the ones that wear their clothes and makeup like a white girl won't go for Asian guys. So I ignore them. Same with mixed part Asians, they generally don't like Asian men even more than the white-washed but full Asian women. And then I guess if she's checking out white guys contantly, I leave that one alone too. But I haven't tried to date an Asian girl for awhile now, I mean why? There are plenty of other ethnicities out there, I don't need to put myself in situations where the chance of success is low, and is based on something I can't change. And I like black and hispanic women better anyway. So maybe you can do something similar, by their looks... I can tell you fob-ish Asian guys mostly likely will only date other Asian women, so you can leave those out. But once a guy is open to dating black women, I'd imagine the strategy would be the same. For me personally, since I like black women to begin with, I find it amusing when black women talk like white people (not good, not bad, just amusing). But maybe if you act and talk like a white girl you can minimize the intimidation factor for the "borderline" guys that may be open to it but are afraid to try. I don't know... just a theory.

I've never considered dating an Asian guy until a couple of months ago when I heard they are at an equal disadvantage to dating as black women are. I can relate to them more than white men, becuase of that, and that we are both minorities. All my Asian girl friends say that Asian mean are too traditional, domanding and uncaring. I've been hit on by a few Asian men. . . At my school there are Asian men who check me out allot, which is nice, and there are some who have strong accents and dont even look at me and only hang around other Asians. Yeah I deffiantly talk proper english and I use to dress punk so I got allot of attention from white men they'd say "hey I like that band too" etc. Ironically the only men who find it amusing that I talk "white" are Asian men. My ex-co worker was Philliphino (I know thats not really Asian). We almost started dateing but I ended up quiting while he was on vacation. . .:-( well he found it very strange that I didnt talk "black". . .
fishtaco Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Yeah, traditional Asian men tend to be chauvinistic. I could understand why women now-a-days wouldn't want that. And they play DDR. I'm trying to single-handedly change these negative perceptions of Asian men. Okay actually, I'm just trying to date. LOL, by talking "black" I didn't mean talking like gangsta rap lyrics. I meant proper English, but with that certain pronounciation of certain words that's associated with blacks. I met an attractive black lady last week. Saw her again last night. With me she totally talks white, I mean if I closed my eyes I'd think she's white. Her dad was there so I couldn't really push it (she's 32, just so you know I'm not going after some teenager or something). I think she doesn't know me very well, so she was using her "professional voice" with me. Problem with women that are no longer in their early 20's, they play the game well. I can't tell if she's interested in me at all, as in I can't tell she's not interested in me either. Younger women would probably get gigglely or do something to give away that they think I'm cute or something. This is going to be a tough battle. But anyway, Filipinos are considered Pacific Islanders. If you like him maybe you can go back to the place you worked and see if you can catch him? I've met a married couple that's Filipino husband + black wife. She loved my hair heh.
Woggle Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Just be yourself. Approach it the same way no matter what race the man is.
Guest Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I'm an Asian guy and I hooked up with a black girl for the first time a few months ago. It helped we were friends first and knew each other. It didn't last long and I'm still bothered by that but by the same token she did open up a whole new world for me. Prior to her I never thought of a black girl as a potential love partner; no real reason why and I can only say I wish someone had clued me in earlier. :-) Just go out and meet people whatever race they are and have fun.
JS97 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 hmm... well, how do you expect the guys to overcome their pre-disposition (about black women) if you can't overcome the issue yourself?. oh and also, someone please show fishtaco what a "coherent" sentence looks like!. if you look anything like alicia keys... hit me up!
