Carol_1278 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Has anyone tried this program? Did you find it helpful? Thanks!
Gunny376 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 If you read some of my post I'm a very big advocate of Dr. Hellen's material. Initially, I just bought the $6 paperback version of the book, that's back before the Internet, and back before her audio material. Too late for my marriage ~ but produced amazing results in my next LTR which ended because of geographical issues, my retiring from the Marine Corps, and my kids being 800 miles away, etc. Its best if applied pro-actively, but is helpful re-actively. Most definately helpful when the "fire" has wained.
Gunny376 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 She has a website, you'll have to Goggle it. I would also recommend 1001 Ways to be Romantic And Romance 101 The last book's title is a bit deceptive, becuase it deals with a lot of the "issues" that come up with being in a relationship
Carol_1278 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Thank you Gunny for the response. I went to the website and listened to the demos and I don't think that this program is right for my husband and I. Our roles are reversed from the typical male/female roles that Dr. Ellen seems to be addressing in her tapes. It seems like a good program still though, so if I don't find anything else, maybe I will still give it a try.
Carol_1278 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 well...the demos seemed to address things such as the woman being more emotionaly connected and the man emotionally distant and also when listening to the one for men, it pointed out that as kids, girls are ok with crying and boys are taught not to. In my situation, my husband is very in touch with his emotions and I am the more distant one. I rarely cry and when I do, it is not in front of anyone. He caters to anything I want and is always very willing to say "i'm sorry". He does not find fault with anything I do. Do the tapes address this sort of behavior on both our parts??
