Boys are easier as teenagers than girls.

This is fundamentally true - I once asked a forensic psychologist about this - he said boys get angry for 3 or so days and cool off, whereas girls save it all up to puberty.

My advice would be to not waste your authority on small things - only on the things that really matter.

one of the challenges that i find myself facing is whether or not to snoop.

I wouldn't bother - the really bad stuff I did as a teen I never wrote down, so you could betray her trust if she sets booby traps (I did) and you won't find out anyway.

yea, I agree with the booby trap thing. Although every now and then you MIGHT find something personal (like a note from her friend or something)

I think this is just so so wrong. My mum got into a couple of notes I had from friends when I was at school. I thought it was just so nosey...(I have a thing about nosey people!).

I KNOW I know, it's a protective, caring thing. They are worried for one reason or the other and everything but as a teenager, it really does make you loose alot of respect for your parents, moreso your mum if she's the one doing it.

Mum would question me about them when I would get home from school of an afternoon. I answered the questions she wanted to know but inside I thought "No! I shouldn't even have to answer my personal life to you!"

Teenage girls need alot of privacy in their life. I know sometimes it may feel as though they are blocking you out, but you know what? The more you pry and go through their stuff or whatever, the more they block you out.

That's what I did with my mum. I was getting sick and tired of her going through all my personal stuff, so I hid everything from her. It hurt alot that I couldn't open up to her...I mean, I could. But I didn't want to, in the fear that she would start being all nosey again.

The movie Freaky Friday I think is a really good example of what life is like as a teen girl....whether you've seen it or not.

But anyway, that's just my 2 cents. Privacy is so important.
