avoj Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Anyone else ever heard this line, "It's Not You, It's Me?" This girl shredded my soul and heart up so bad, that I haven't a shred of dignity or self-esteem left. This sucks.
superconductor Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Oh, it's very, very common. I've heard it a few times, and to my shame I've actually used it. Essentially, it means, "I'm weak and can't tell you the real reason(s) that I don't want to be with you anymore, so I'm making this up so you won't feel so bad."
Jane Doe Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Why are you giving this coward all of your power? If she doesn't want to be with you, find someone who will! There are millions and millions of people in the world. Don't throw in the towel over just one. It's not worth it. I know you're hurting but believe me, this too shall pass.
BlueEyedGirl Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 One of my favorite lines to use when I don't want to hurt someone. Recently I have used it on a guy from work. I said something like: we are better off as friends, you are a fantastic guy but you know how messed up I am when it comes to relationships so you are better off without me. Translation: I don't have one shred of attraction towards you.
Adunaphel Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Used it. Meaning(in my case): I thought you could be my kind of guy, but now that I got to know you better I don't like you enough. (it can also have other meanings, but they always include a "I don't like you enough" part.) Sorry. ..she is right, though. It's not you, it's her. The fact that she does not like you enough to get together with you does not mean that there is anything wrong with you.
