superconductor Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 True story: Neice comes home from school one day. She's in Grade 1. With her is a note from the teacher. It reads, in part (spelling mistakes are on the original): I here that (child's name) is not going to be able to go on our farm toor next week. Sorry to here about that. Your welcome to bring her to a different toor if you wish... And we wonder why kids have trouble with spelling and grammar.
phyrespryte Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 That's the same note my teacher gave me in first grade.

britchick Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Bad spelling from teachers drives me nuts! One of my pet hates. When my son was in primary school the class made a big display about the weather. The teacher had made the headings. She had written 'Lightening' for 'Lightning'. IT DOESN'T MEAN THE SAME THING. I pointed it out and she changed it, I bet she hated me!

magichands Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Is there less emphasis on the three Rs (what a horrible abbreviation) these days? Or are there just more sources of corruption?! http://www.homestarrunner.com/sbemail89.html Hang on...did I just corrupt this thread??
blind_otter Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 What do you expect when you pay these people peanuts? It's not like the best educators in the world are attracted to making that kind of money. And theones who are really talented end up getting burnt out. No offense.
