Are there some men who have difficulty saying the L word but still feel it?

I have a fantastic boyfriend. He cares about me, treats me like gold, ect. but has never said the L word to me. We've been together 6 months, not always physically because we are on opposite side of the world and I came back home to finish a course and he is working, but we talk on the web, web-cam and phone 3 times a day.

We spent 2 months together this summer as I came to him. At the airport before I had to leave to go thru security I felt I had to tell him I loved him as I'd never said it before either, so I mustered up the courage and told him. We both had tears in our eyes and when I said it he hugged me very tightly and cried more, then I left, waved and blew a kiss...

Later when I called him before boarding the plane he said, "It was nice to here what you said..." I was embarassed and kind of giggled.

Well, I just want your opinion on this. I think he loves me, but just can't express it verbally. What is your opinion?

I haven't said it since but in messenger I often send hearts and today after our chat he sent this animated thing with a girl drawing a heart with lipstick.

Is this a common thing with some men? Is it ok to coax it out of them or let them say it in their own time?

Some men find it very difficult to say "I love you" and will only do so when they are good and ready.

I think he has strong feelings for you, but may not be ready to say it. Give him time, he may think 6 months is too soon. He probably wants to be 100% sure about his feelings before he lets those words cross his lips.

When he does say it, you'll know that he has meant it.

I agree with stillhere. It sounds like his actions speak louder than words, so don't worry about it and give him a chance to get comfortable with the word.

My SO and I have known each other for years, and have been seeing each other for about 2 years. He's said I love you exactly twice even though we talk about marriage. :lmao:

THAT is exactly what I wanted to say. When I dated women, I never told any of them "I love you" until I met my wife, and that took about four to six months (I don't remember when...but I bet my wife does). Even when things got hot and heavy with a woman, I held back until it meant more than lust. For some odd reason, I wanted to say it only when I felt like I met the one that I wanted/chose to love for the rest of my life. Even if the relationship didn't work out, at least I said it because I meant it.

Oddly enough, the relationship did work out, and I have never stopped loving her.
