heyduh Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 i've been reading a lot of psychology/pop-psychology books lately i came across a very simple tactic that helps you detect lies we all know things like a liar will avoid eye contact etc ... but an experiment was performed and the outcome was : ask a right handed person a question if they look up and to the left, they are accessing the memory banks of the brain to answer your question. if they predominantly look up and to the right, they are using thier imagination to answer your question .. aka lies. this is accurate over 95% of the time for an RH person. For a LH person, just switch it around (don't know about ambidextrous) anyway .. a suggested experiment is to ask a serious of generic questions to a person you know. ask question that you know they KNOW the answer to... for example "what kind of car do you have?" or "how old is your car" or "what is your zip code" .. they will usually look left and answer these questions ask them imaginary questions .. such as "what do you think sky diving would feel like" or "can you imagine swimming with dolphins?" .. etc .. and notice how the other person responds .. these require imagination, aka making up things .. so they should be looking to the right and answering the question (unless they are recalling a memory) i've been trying on friends family over the past few days and for the most part it seems absolutely right!!! try it out and post your experiences here don't ask your lover if they love you or are cheating on you ... hehehe ... not yet at least.
Author heyduh Posted September 9, 2006 Author Posted September 9, 2006 i forgot to mention that this method is taught to cia/fbi and other secret service recruits ... and it works when asking a series of questions .. if you ask one discrete question, it will be hard to discern whether the target is telling the truth or lying but if you ask 3/4 questions along the same lines (a theme) than the predominant eye/head movement towards the right indicates lying, whereas predominant leftside inclination indicates memory recall...
britchick Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I shall be putting this into practice immediately!
CrushedOrgans Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 i know they think they have this down to a science and all that, but i'm not buying it. certainly not for everyone.
