There's this girl at work I am interested in asking out. First of all, I need to find out her situation - single, with bf, etc. Once I know, I can either mve ahead or just carry on as normal. Her location within the company makes it a little awkward to go up and ask her, so I am left with 1 of 3 choices - phone, email or the chance meeting when she is away from her desk. Anyone like to suggest anything?

Email her, just be like "hey, how are you? I would like to get to know you better? How about coffee or a drink after work sometime?"

That sounds like an easy way to do it.

Chance meeting away from her desk. Are you sure she is not married? I always ask a woman if she is married, even if there is no diamond on the finger, before any type of invitation.

First, it makes it absolutely clear whether she is or is not. Then, you may get a clue if she is open to possibilities. By your mere asking you are in a way suggesting your intention may be to get together with her.

By phone or email is difficult because she may have never even noticed you at this point and not sure who she is dealing with. But even so, taliking to her face to face is the bold gesture and you can read her body language.

[sIZE=2]My work often means I am in the are where she works – it’s a large open office area and there are always several other people around including two who have desks either side of her.

I have seen her with a guy quite sometime ago (at least a year) and used to see them have lunch from time to time, but like I said, has been at least a year and haven't seen them together since.

She always smiles at me and if I walk in to the area. If I go to walk out without acknowledging , I hear her call out "good morning", before I am out of ear shot.

Just the other day, I happened to walk past the pay office and she called out in a low sort of voice "I see you". So there are several flirtatious signals, which could just be friendly work banter.

But my first intention is to establish her status.
