I’ve struck up a great friendship with this girl over the past couple of months. Although not we aren’t in a relationship as such, we both care about each other and have a lot of fun when we hang out.

Everything has been going great until just a few days ago. I inadvertently trivialised a major friendship rift between her and a girl friend of hers of some 10 years. This friend had said some nasty things about her behind her back and my friend found out through someone else. Just before this, we were about to set her friend up with a good friend of mine. He asked if my friend could ‘hold off’ confronting her friend until they had got together.

Bad move on my part as the girl I’ve been seeing is now p***ed off with me and I’m not sure if she’ll forgive me for this. I really value her as a friend and now I feel awful for treating her situation this way and for hurting her feelings. She knows how I feel about this situation is, but she is still angry with me.

Any advice, suggestions, empathy would be appreciated. Cheers.

As an update. My friend has decided not to be angry with me. In fact we are now back on track and remain great friends and it feels fantastic. I was able to tell her my side of things and she understood completely. She is a terrific person to know and have around.
