lorena76 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 My ex boyfriend owes me $700. I lent him the money while we were dating and in the six years after that when we were still talking and sleeping with each other. I stopped talking to him about a year ago, because the situation was too difficult to handle. When we stopped talking I decided not to pursue the money because it was too painful for me to deal with him. I just wanted to get him out of my life, my heart and my head. I found out through myspace, recently that he has a new girlfriend, a new car and just recently went on vacation. ( I too have moved on, I have recently become engaged) I decided that if he could afford all those things he could afford to pay me back the money I lent him. So, I called him and asked to see him, I told him I wanted to talk about us and the money he still owed me. He got really upset and said that he thought all that was behind us. That he had tried calling me a couple of times and that I always told him that I did not want to talk him (which is true). That he was sorry he hurt me, but that he had moved on now and that he could not see me because it would upset his new girlfriend too much. ( I said well bring her with you). We decided he would call me when he could see me and he never called back. I am trying to decide if I should write him a letter asking for my money back by a certain date or else I will file a small claims suit. And maybe even a police report because the last time he supposedly was going to pay me, he gave me a bad check (knowingly). I still am sometimes hurt by him and all the pain he has caused me and I wonder that if he paid me, if that would give me more closure. Or am I only going to upset myself more by trying to make him pay me.
Adunaphel Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I agree that getting paid your money back might bring you some closure, but the main point is that it's fair and right that he gives those 700$ back to you. If his gf does not wish that you see him, he can transfer it on your bank account or ask a trusted person to give it to you. I am trying to decide if I should write him a letter asking for my money back by a certain date or else I will file a small claims suit. And maybe even a police report because the last time he supposedly was going to pay me, he gave me a bad check (knowingly). Tell this to him on the phone or in person - he could pretend he did not get a letter. Are you 100% sure you can file a claims suit or a police report? if you actually could do either of those things, and have enough evidence that he does owe you that money, threaten away. Someone that pulls so much bull**** to avoid paying you back deserves it, IMO.
