Hi everyone, I'm a new memeber just joined today, and this is my very first post.

I met this guy a few days ago, we exchanged phone numbers and he has called me a few times.

The longest we have talked to each other is about 2 hours, in person. He asked me out, I accepted, and he told me he would call the next day.

He didn't call me, my feeling were hurt and I was really mad at him. The very next day he shows up at my house at 11:00am, I told my friend to tell him I was not home. He told her the reason he didn't call me was because he left is little black book at a friend's house, and couldn't get his friend to answer the phone.

So, this morning he calls and leaves a message on my answering machine saying he's sorry, and didn't call me because he left his book at his friends hous. Said he was greatly sorry.

Keep in mind I've only know this guy for about 5 days, and he stood me up for our VERY FIRST DATE!!!

My questions is should I just forget this guy? What should I do?

well...i wouldn't say you've been stood up yet. losing your number was a dumb*** move, definitely, but he's tried several times to make it up to you. give the poor guy another chance, i say. but just one. :)

I'd give him another chance. He came to your house to make amends...a guy who truly wanted to stand you up is a guy you'd never hear from again.

Posted

Wow. You actually feel stood up? He gave a logical reason and even showed up at your house to apologize. What a great guy.

I wouldn't consider that as being stood up. Being stood up is if he didn't make an attempt to apologize or get ahold of you at all.

He seems like a good guy...

Don't be so harsh to the poor fella. I would be all smiles if he showed up to my house and was apologizing...

Maybe that's just me ... too laid back I suppose? :)

I feel stood up because he was suppose to call me and Sunday, and we go out. But he didn't call me, so I was mad at him for making plans with me and not following through. He left me hanging the whole day.

Well he lost your phone number. Was he supposed to call information or use psychic powers? I'm just saying.

I don't think he lost my number, I feel it was just a lame excuse as to why he didn't call me. And if he did lose my number, he could have cmae over my house, he's done that before, and we ended up talking to eahc other for 2 hours.

Hi Missy.:)

I think that you should give him another chance. I think that if he really meant to stand you up, then I don't think that he would have been at your house that very next morning. If he goofs up again like that, then I would say that he is not that interested, but one more chance couldn't hurt.

Posted

Then forget about him. If you're going to be so strung up abot something that really isn't a big deal, since he did come over and clearly was sorry then maybe you don't deserve him...?

Yeah, you guys are right. I'll give him another chance.

Should I call him, or wait for him to call me?

Posted

Call him. He's probably feeling that you are rejecting him.

Be a big girl. :)

He obviously cares.

Missy, just in case you missed the memo:

The world does not revolve around your expectations. Deal with it.

(and call him)

K, I'll give him a call. :)

He told her the reason he didn't call me was because he left is little black book at a friend's house

It's not just about forgetting your number and standing you up. But his tacky reference to "the little black book" is what indicates you are dealing with some clueless wannabe player.

It's sad, but some guys just don't seem to have a clue!

PS: If you do call him, ask him how many "stars" he put beside your name ...

Be on alert. Be cautious. And, do not allow him to walk all over you.

Yikes...a little black book...is that his description of his personal phone book. That sounds like he might have been on another date with someone else in that book. You get one chance to create a good impression and he didn't, I would really rethink this whole thing. I almost got stood up once by a guy who arrived an hour late for our date...he gave me some excuse about seeing family that day. The thing is he didn't even bother to take my phone number with him...it was I who had to call him. Guess what we're no longer together anymore...

According to the urban slang dictionary:

Little Black Book

Is the archaic term for the proper word: Holodex

Definition: Name for a man's pocket directory of (hopefully) promiscuous women.

This guy already has a black mark on his name. You don't trust him already, so what depths does he need to go to to get it back? Is it really worth it?

You're upset at him because you think he lied to you and made up an excuse, yet you lied about being home when he came to give you an explanation. Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

Maybe it's better off you find someone who wants to play games, or be played by yours.

I called him yesterday, and we talked for about an hour. I still don't belive the story of he left his little black book over a friend's hous. But I was willing to over look that, and give him another chance.

Our conversation was going really good, I even told him I was really looking forward to us going out this past Sunday, and I was disappointed that we didn't. He said he felt the same way too.

Well, we have plans for this weekend, but not definite (sp) plans, because he said that he has to pay his car insurance. So, I'm not for sure if we will go out this weekend or not.

During this time when he has called you did you call him to? Also was it off an analog phone or cell phone or both?

The longest we have talked to each other is about 2 hours, in person. He asked me out, I accepted, and he told me he would call the next day.

Your time line gets fuzzy right here but I have read the rest of your reply post on this thread so lets see If I can get this time line right.

the date I assume was suppose been plan on Sunday, So you two were talking about going out with each other and you accepted. This talk took place on Sat since I am going to reference "He suppose to call the next day"

He didn't call me, my feeling were hurt and I was really mad at him.

Did you atemp to call him when it did not look like he was going to call?

The very next day he shows up at my house at 11:00am,

Yea this would throw a red flag up in the air for me as well. I assume the next day is Monday. I would be thinking if he could come over on Monday, why didn't he just come over Sunday since it seem to be in the plans.

I told my friend to tell him I was not home.

Very bad move on your part. You should had faced him. Always! Always! take care of your business. Friends are great listeners but don't have them take care such of a business as this. You needed to be face to face with this guy and asked questions and watch his body language, right then and there you could of decided if he was being for real or you just needed to throw him back out in the sea.

He told her the reason he didn't call me was because he left is little black book at a friend's house, and couldn't get his friend to answer the phone.

I would have taken this as a lame excuse myself. "Little black book" is the few words I pretty much underland as being tacky. It would have been better for someone say I had lost your number and just left it as that.

Also we live in the land of technology in this day in time. Caller ID's that records numbers that has called you and cell phones that not only records numbers that you dialed but numbers that has called you. It isn't to hard to retrieve a number in this date in time.

I would be cautious! things seems to be a little fuzzy at this point. If you still feel like there is good points about him then give him a chance, if you feel strongely bothered and have gut feeling that keeps gnawing at you about this guy then I advice not to go out.

Pay car insurance? Ohh, there are many things to do without investing too much money (especially if he REALLY wants to see you). And about that "black book" - nowadays people keep all the important numbers in their cellphones!

This is so on point to me. At first, from reading the previous posts I started to think I was just crazy. I'd say he showed up a day too late. He should have shown up on the day of the date. You were home expecting him:o . I'd be leery too if I were you. Follow your instincts. I think they're tellin ya something.

He showed up your house the next day? Why didn't he just show up for the date then, without calling?

Let him keep apologizing.
