I have a bit of a problem that I would like some help on. i'v been going out with my gf for a year and a half now and we love each other so much!....ok one day she told me to go get her shirt in her dresser, so I did and I came upon a book & photo album, heres the problem for me anyways....the photo album has pics of her and her ex,+ his love letters to her.....now this guys cheated so many times on her its unreal plus she told me she hated him a long time ago...so yeah now I asked her about it and she said it was nothing and you got nothing to worry about."she knows i have a problem with that guy"....so i asked her why keep it? and she said she doesen't like to throw stuff away.....so I kindly asked her if she could throw it away cause it botherd me, "cause of her wild pass"...but i know she changed and matured...so she said she would give it to her friend witch is that guys cousin and she likes to cut pictures and make a collage out of them lol....anyways still bothering me a bit but its better then nothing right?...the only thing that running in my head she could tell her to keep it for safe keepings or something like that... I don't know? 2.Now the other book is the main problem...its an old book that has the cover page "guys I went out with" 1,2,3,4,5,to 80 .my name was the last one witch is good right? lol.....but i feel like maybe i'm just an nother guy you know what i meen?... She told me she put me in the book on our first date so thats not bad... still didn't like the idea that she still has the book....its like she wants to put more in it...you know....but she told me that the book is like 7 years old...i'm 23 and she's 22 by the way....she told me she forgot it was even there... so yeah I asked her to throw that away and she told me that its stupid why this is bothering me...and i told her it shouldn't be that hard to do so cause we both love one & other so much...and thats where i am now and i don't think its going in the trash...what should i do?.......(she like to keep junk lol) ps...she told me that she wants me for the rest of her life & I feel the same too....its retared how much I love this girl
Outcast Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 You are not allowed to dictate to someone else that she throw away the memories of her life. You need to work on your insecurity. I keep photos and letters from guys I've known. Not because I miss them or because I even think of them but because it's a part of my life and when I'm old and my brain is mush, I can look it over and remember my life. You're being unreasonable.

Live is nothing more than a bunch of memories, she just wants to keep them. I myself still keep stuff from my exes, it's not that I still want them back, I know where I'm at now, but it's nice to look back and smile and think about your memories

To a point I agree with this. You do not. Personally, I never like to throw things away. Memories are just that. I have cards from a previous gf, matchbox from a night with another,etc., and my wife knows. Why should she care? We are married. She got me...for better or for worse. Those girls are now married...I think. It is not a big deal. However, in your case, it is a bit different. You do not have the right to demand her to throw them away, nor do I think she should. What I do think is that this is the time to decide if her past is important to you. Can you deal with the fact that she has dated 79 other men? And for the sake of argument, she had sex with only a third...this is 25 men. Does that matter? Could she have any STDs? I am not being paranoid... in this day and age, this is a real concern. And another thing, what is her purpose in keeping a list of all of the men she dated? Is it like how many notches on the bedpost? Truthfully, if I were her, I would be shooting for the big 100. So, no, she can keep the stuff, but this is an opportunity for you to decide if this past..and future is okay with you.
