hey all....

after researching and debating for about a year, ive finally decided to get breast implants.

I just moved to Northeast tennessee. Does anyone recommend any doctors? or would anyone who has had the procedure be willing to ask their doctor if he knows anyone good near me?

word of mouth is the best type of recommendation, and i want to make sure i wont get a butcher working on me

:D thanks everyone!

Why do you want breast implants? Do you know in 20 years they'll need to be replaced?

My best friend got them - she was totally flat chested now she looks like every other chick. She figured men would flock to her and she'd find Mr. Right.

Nothing miraculous has happened to her yet. She actually feels self concious with them now and has resorted to joining eHarmony.

Well every girl wants boozems and the desire to have boobs for those who don't are strong. I say do what you want and talk with people who have had implants and feel strongly about their decision. I was going to have a breast reduction, that has nothing to do with implants. I just now realized how some girls would die for my big boozems haha

It's very informative and you can find board certified doctors in your area.

Good luck! :)

im engaged, so im not looking to have men flocking to me. And yes, I know they'll need to be replaced. Not everyone jumps into a major surgical procedure without fully researching it first.

If by looking like every other chick, you mean not looking like a boy, then yes I would like to look like every other chick, and I dont blame her for wanting the same thing. But let's set aside our condescending comparisons, shall we?

I am looking to have a more feminine shape, not a porn star one. Unless your friend is in fact planning to become a porn star, I seriously doubt thats what she was going for.

i would just like to be able to fill out my clothes for once without resorting to inches of padding...... because THAT makes me feel self conscious. I've tried pills, creams, and vitamin drops for about a year, with very little result.

I'm not getting anything insane, just one size up. I'm a very small B, and I would like to become a C. I could see being self conscious if it were a huge size change, because if youre a D, thats all people are looking at.

As a woman in general, you have to understand the fact that there are going to be gentlemen and there are going to be pigs.

However, to quote Spiderman, 'with great power comes great responsiblity'. In acquiring a more voluptous figure, you have to accept the price that you will more than occasionally run into a pig.... and whether or not you let it affect you is your responsiblity.

I'm sorry your friend had a bad experience with them. However, if she had unreal expectations going into the surgery (something 'miraculous' as you put it), then she is obviously going to be disappointed.

To practice medicine all doctors have to be 'board certified'. The board certified thingy is just an advertising gimmick.

Do you really want to change your body forever?

Have you considered how implants might affect your relationship?

Do you understand that breast implants require you to do maintenance on them and that they can become as hard as rocks sometimes?

Do you understand that you may lose some or all feeling in your breasts?

Do you understand that breast implants do not feel like the real thing, especially after a period of time?

I just wanted to let you know that if you plan on having children, your breasts change. I've never even given birth to a live baby, but I was pregnant twice and miscarried both times and my breasts grew an entire cup size between my first pregnancy and now, it's been about 4 years.

Ok, I went back and reread what you wrote and you said you fully researched breast implants. If that were the case you would already know about a good doctor in your area. Asking strangers, who may be associated with a butcher, for a recommendation doesn't seem to be the wisest thing to do. Good luck in your quest.

Your GP should be knowledgable on who would be the best surgeons to go to.

Also, try looking for someone who is a plastic surgeon as opposed to a cosmetic surgeon.

WoWAddict, take the advice of those who urged you to first ask your doctor for a list of plastic surgeons in your area.

You should be able to follow up on the necessary info about each of them to reach a decision.

I have implants (under the muscle, through the nipple) and have experienced no problems with them.

For me, the decision was based on appearance and just the knowledge that it was high time to correct the physical shape of my body after having my children (breastfeeding can alter some of us in such a way that we simply want to look 'normal' again).

And this is a point to consider (possibly wanting to breastfeed any children you may have in the future) if you decide, now, to have the implants.

Talk to your surgeon about it and listen carefully to make your decision wisely.

My surgeon was from Northeast Tennessee (Bristol Professional Park, Bristol, TN) and is one of the very best, but I'm sure you will find equally skilled, talented (and experienced) ones where you live, as well.

I wish you health and happiness with this.

" what was the name of your surgeon....

and did you just get implants or anything else with it? cause most women get an implant/lift after having kids.

what size did go to from-to?

around how much did the whole thing cost?

sorry to be so nosy, but its nice to find someone supportive from my area who's had good luck.

thx"

(Name of surgeon, Location, Phone Number, and Web Site are all in your email)

As far as the following information, posting it may help others.

I did not require a lift -only implants- and I went from a B-Cup to a D.

I am very tall and long-waisted, and the span of my shoulders supported the new size very well, so they did not appear to be resting on a frame that was obviously too small to carry them.

I "tried on" the implants in the privacy of his office -all by myself- by putting them into a non-padded bra that was the size I wished to have.

By doing this, I could get a feel of what it would be like to choose the size and contour of many types of implants.

I considered the weight of them, as well, and how comfortably I would be able to carry them.

I chose the under-the-muscle method of implantation because (from the feedback and info I had) they seemed to last longer as far as 'staying put' was concerned -and since I was so tired of all that sagging I had been dealing with for years after the birth and breastfeeding of my children, the whole idea worked superbly for me.

I took a week and a half off from the office but, as it turned out, I only needed to have taken about five or six days to heal well enough to go back.

I had some pain the first three days, and a little trouble finding a good position to sleep, but had been given a prescription for pain by Dr. X, which alleviated most of the discomfort.

Lifting or raising my arms for *anything* more than a cup of tea was a "no-no".

The more sanitary you keep the sutures, the less noticable the scar, so use the anteseptic your doctor tells you to use and stay bandaged for as long as he tells you.

My scars are not noticable, at all!

The cost for my own implants was just shy of six thousand dollars ( a bargain in my opinion!).

I have had them (with no problem) for just over fours years.

They've made a great difference in how I feel about myself -and certainly in how I look!

I am 46 years old, and I actually look better than I did 20 years ago, -mostly due to the implants.

I hope what I have said has been helpful and that your decision is one you make for all the right reasons.

I also wish you lots of luck and happiness with your future goal!

Take care.

I think that it's only appropriate that Rio post a topless pic of herself online so we LSers can get a good indication of what she means. Just for research purposes, of course.

I second the motion. Multiple pics from different angles would be ideal so that SC and I can do our analysis.

I will third that motion and request wallet size and 8x10s

Now, boys, (<in my best Southern drawl> the one that sounds a little like Mae West) I might be a little naughty in even slightly entertaining that thought, but then, it could get worse: I might wind up right back where the problem started.

All the above, purely in fun.;)
